Seeing the opener get moved up brought back some nice memories of our last Thursday night regular season game.We rocked Ole Miss in the Liberty Bowl 41 - 3. That was a fun game to watch in person. Our D showed out that night.

Moving the game to Thursday sucks. So much for a nice Saturday outing. Some of us have to work and have our kids in school Friday.

I will rarely agree with anything that Mike Hamilton ever said but I liked his perspective on Thursday night games.

He said we should have a top notch opponent and it should be an away game. Too many of our fans drive from areas 100+ miles away on game day.

How the game has changed since then. Have to say I liked it better then. That run we had in the 90s may never be achieved again. Some great teams. Wasn't Fulmer like 47-5 or something like that?

Agreed. Vandy/USCjr. play on ESPN and the Titans play that night too. I don't understand the logic of moving to the SECN on a Thursday night...

Tennessee's last Thursday home game was a 46-0 route of Kentucky on Thanksgiving Day in 1938, when the Vols went 11-0 and allowed only 16 points during a NC season.
The Vols last opened a season with a Thursday home game in 1896 when the fourth varsity team in school history opened a four game season with a 10-6 win against the Williamsburg Institute (now the University of the Cumberlands) .
Researched by T-FP Tennessee beat writer Patrick Brown.

Interesting seeing where some of the assistant coaches are these days.

Kurt Roper(GA): OC at South Carolina
Dan Brooks(Assistant): DL Coach Clemson
Randy Sanders(Assistant): OC Free Shoe Univ.

Randy Sanders is the most shocking imo.
