Our D-line...

I wonder if it has to do with his size. Campbell, Telander, and Carter are listed at 230, 235, and 238 respectively. Perlotte is listed at 215. That's more strong safety size than linebacker size. Knowles seems to like bigger bodies up front in general.
Perlotte's issue is he's a walking flag. He plays on the edge yet doesn't know where the edge is. If he figures it out he will play

Gilliam is beast. Honestly cannot recall the last time we had a player like him in the interior.
Matthew Butler's last year was the last time we had an interior player who wrecked shop like this. It's been impressive. Hate it's gonna be a one year rental. He has to have played himself way up draft boards so far.

Telander been playing really well and grading out as one of the top defenders again. We had posters saying he wasn’t SEC level and shouldn’t be on the field.
Seeing Knowles use Telander effectively convinced me that replacing Banks was definitely the right move. I really hope he is able to mold Perlotte into his kind of backer.

Few here on VN acknowledge how our D punished Arch. Their RBs were vaunted and I can’t recall who they are as their names were rarely called for anything special. Granted their D managed our offense better than expected but a single second half touchdown TD given up to the #1 team in the nation who dominated the second half against the Buckeyes does two things. It signifies we have a great DC in Knowles and the money we ponied up for the new S&C coach was well worth it.
In all fairness, Texas #1 RB, Hollywood Smothers, didn’t play Saturday.

Also, offensively we scored more points than OSU did in 2nd half so basically our offense is better than OSU!

Don’t care about NFL. I care about coaches putting our players in position to make plays and how they perform for UT.
I didn't say anywhere I didn't. If anything, if he manages to work his way into a late draft slot that means he's playing really well...

Why has Perlotte been MIA? I thought he was going to be a stud. I love the way he plays minus the hits out of bounds.
It's a deep LB group, and supposedly Perlotte doesn't really know what he's supposed to be doing a lot of the time in this defense. Even if you look at some of the plays he made last year, he's actually kind of out of position on a lot of them but the play comes back to him.

Having said that, I'm still pretty surprised he hasn't seen the field more. The way things seem to go in the current era, it wouldn't surprise me if he transferred.

He will be very good in the future, imo.
