Our D-line...

Is about to absolutely murder Auburn... I just watched the film of their last two games😬.
Gilliam has exceeded already high expectations. Weathersby and Dye have clearly worked their tails off. Gentle starting to come on. Need Hobbs to stay healthy and Nate Robinson to get back in the rotation, and our front is going to continue to dominate. I love how Knowles is using the two ACs and Telander.

Go watch their O-line. It's not good. They have given up the most sacks in the SEC even after a game that we gave up 10 in

Just wish he would sprinkle in Perlotte, that kid has a knack for creating turnovers. That's not normally luck.

Its sad we cant focus on the defense that much. Gave up 10 sacks but got 7 against a better OL and competent QB.
Few here on VN acknowledge how our D punished Arch. Their RBs were vaunted and I can’t recall who they are as their names were rarely called for anything special. Granted their D managed our offense better than expected but a single second half touchdown TD given up to the #1 team in the nation who dominated the second half against the Buckeyes does two things. It signifies we have a great DC in Knowles and the money we ponied up for the new S&C coach was well worth it.

True enough, but the real question is how healthy he'll be by Saturday. Same for Moss and all our other walking wounded.

Why has Perlotte been MIA? I thought he was going to be a stud. I love the way he plays minus the hits out of bounds.
Last years defense was, “we suck so wreak havoc where you can.” Knowles actually has a plan. He disguises coverage, runs exotic blitzes. So, he needs players that fit that. Players who are where they are supposed to be when they are supposed to be there. Guess who doesn’t?

I wonder if it has to do with his size. Campbell, Telander, and Carter are listed at 230, 235, and 238 respectively. Perlotte is listed at 215. That's more strong safety size than linebacker size. Knowles seems to like bigger bodies up front in general.

The forecast is for a lot of rain during the game so I like our chances of stacking the line and stopping their running game more so than them doing the same to us.

That makes sense. He has a lot of physical ability but maybe he doesn’t get his assignments right

Every part of our defense player very well against the

#1 team played very well against the #1 team in the Nation. Certainly well enough to win the ball game. The good part is they will continue to get better and better as the season moves on.

Agree. Arch was definitely feeling the pressure and rattled to the point of 2 across LOS throws! Rarely see that in a game, much less twice from a knowledgeable QB.

DLine is a much needed bright spot for us. XG in particular is an absolute stud. Im pleased with the D as a whole as well. Redmond is looking good and Moss is a straight baller in the secondary.

XG seems to make everyone around him better. He has been that much of an impact. Let's hope we continue to improve as a whole and keep enough of a rotation that guys don't get tired legs from the long season.

Gilliam is beast. Honestly cannot recall the last time we had a player like him in the interior.
