The silver lining from having our oline exposed is this.
Our big money NIL people are going to say….”We messed up with Heard. But we know to reach the playoffs with Nico in 2025 that he must have David Sanders and a bunch of new first teamer Power Five olinemen that we will buy. Find them and tell us What will that cost?”

Do you know these people or did you dream this scenario up on your own?

Edit to add: This scenario isn't a sure thing...see Ole Miss.

The funny thing is elite olinemen don’t hit the portal much and when they do everyone wants them. To land one is a huge thing; landing two elite ones doesn’t happen much.

Did you miss the part where one of our best oline recruits decommitted in favor of Oregon? I'm not sure they do.

That’s been in the works for a good long while. Utu had a good relationship with Oregon’s Oline coach and you’re not going to outspend Oregon if they want someone. The notion of the OP that we’re going to go out and outspend some of these teams is laughable.

Only chance we have is to buy them.

Elarbee can not develop the ones he gets. Hope he can maintain Sanders.
If we can't find at least 3 excellent OL players in portal, next yr will be same o, same o.

So already claiming Heard is a bust? Dumb.
Perhaps, but it's starting to appear that any offensive transfer is going to need a year to get accustomed to our scheme and pace. Kinda makes me wonder if it's worth it? Took Thornton time. Brazzell isn't exactly lighting up opposing defenses and Heard seems to be in need of some heavy caffeine or much better conditioning. I'm starting to see NIL transfers in much the same light as JUCO kids. Hit or miss and potential issues.

Ever notice how fans are quick to spend the "big donors" money? Coaches, facilities ,buyouts, and now team units and players.

Yeah.
Exactly. I laugh when I read posts that encourage the spending of someone elses money. So easy yet I'd bet the farm that those same folks don't pony up with donations to the collective.

And the Nico era goes out with a whimper.

We did buy an o line. 3 of the 5 starters are transfers. O line recruiting was weak the first few years but our freshmen are good and will contribute. I’m not defending CGE because our line play has been unacceptable but unfortunately the portal isn’t a silver bullet for the entire position group
