Have you guys heard Branden Smith's comments about his trip up here? He said the Florida crowd was louder than ours. Hate to say but they create more havoc than us. Why is that and we have more fans packed in our stadium. It sounds like we as fans need to check our vol pride too. :hi:

He probably went to the FL LSU game where FL actually won, and came and watched us play like dog poo

The "Who's louder?" stuff is silly. Once you get above about 85,000 people in a closed stadium, there's not much difference. Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU and even SC are ear piercing places to play for the visiting team.

A lot of it is based on the actual build/layout of the stadium as well. I think it's pretty much known that the swamp is louder than Neyland for the most part. Also, those other fans have a lot more to be excited about. We just get to cheer for first downs.

How are you supposed to be loud when you are down by 17 points 5 minutes into the game. How loud were you?

Crowds start load and will keep the intensity if the players do (i.e., Cal a couple of years ago).

Boooo to this thread.

And not very often.

Maybe it's just me, but having been to Florida, the fact that people stand and cheer all game may have something to do with it.
At the Swamp, the fans are doing cheers after every single play, good or not. They back their team 100%. Our fans see a bad play and continue sitting. Our fans see a decent play and continue sitting.
I think it's time to have the Spirit Squad invent new cheers to incorporate all fans.

He is a 18 yr old high school student. Things like that might be the deciding factor of where he plays his college ball. UT fans have a good habit of sitting on their hands half the game.

I have never been to Kentucky, Georgia or Alabama but I have been to all of the other SEC stadiums and the Swamp and Tiger Stadium are at least as loud as Neyland, maybe a little louder. I have been to HUGE games in all 3. I have heard Samford is very loud.

Like GAVol said though, for the most part they are all loud if you are at a big game that is close throughout.

he went to the Florida-LSU game...which Florida won BIG and then compared it to the UT-BAMA game...

WTF did our fans have to be loud about after halftime? perhaps the fumble return that was called back...that's about it.

Which is why LSU games are fun to go to. They have a bunch of different cheers/chants.

Definitely. When the SEC Championship crowd was roughly 65/35 Tennessee, the sound was roughly 70/30 LSU...

Has Neyland stadium taken on the personality of our head coach over the years?

When the second half started our team wasn't out of the game. The fans were nowhere near as intense as they were in the first half. Also its easier for the players to play when someone is backing them and harder on the opposition when you have fans that hate your team making alot of racket.

I understand...but repeated instances of 3 and out will suck the life out of ANY teams fans...the play in the field dictates the level of noise...period.

If you think Flroida fans would be standing up cheering like crazy after 8 straight 3 and outs, you're crazy. Does anyone remember the Zook era?
