OU and TX really not going the SEC until 2025?

In the long term it’s a very smart move. The SEC will bring in the most revenue for schools and will be able to pay their players the most. The SEC will become the Triple-A level for the NFL

They are going to need that cash to buy players.

Honestly, both sides should admit it was a dumb idea and just call off the move.
Agreed. All this will do is make it harder for schools to take the next step up in the SEC. is the SEC going to get 3or 4 teams in the playoffs now?

Probably. But they won’t matter that much. Who cares about who wins the minor league World Series?

OU fans on other boards are saying that guy is basically a troll and doesn’t know anything. Not saying that it’s not true, but I’d like to see something from someone more reputable.
Being new to Twitter, I'm trying to find a way/place that aggregates and ranks content.

There's a ton of crap out there and this one came from someone trying to help me "get my legs" on Twitter but they aren't huge football fans. Thx.

Texas is pouring money into their fund called the ‘Pancake Factory’ (play on words) to establish NIL monies for their offensive and defensive linemen they are trying to bring in. Some of it will be dedicated to charitable organizations. Texas message boards are slamming OU about Texas having a better recruiting class(es). What’s laughable is that Texas has constantly gotten their asses kicked by OU’s “poorer than thou” classes.

Moving into the SEC will financially benefit OU more than whorns.

The other new Big xii teams can’t come in until Texas and Oklahoma leave

Why??

I was under the impression that the new teams were joining in the 23-24 year.

True, they cannot have round robin play with Texas and OU, but I'm sure they will figure out something

Even a year or two extra with Texas and OU will still mean more $$$$ for the B12.

Wish they wouldn’t come in at all. Mizzou and A&M will never belong in the SEC

Can't say that I disagree on the 2012 guys Both are really just bad cultural fits. Mizzou is kind of oddball and the Aggies are just plain weird.

That being said, OU and Texas fit in the SEC culturally much more than the last two entries. OU even much more than Texas.

That’s not true. BYU is coming in July 2023 and the other three in July 2024 at the latest. The other three could also join in the summer of 2023. Whether or not Texas and OU are still in the conference has no bearing on when the other four schools join.

“Oklahoma and Texas will be leaving the Big 12 for the SEC, though the exact date of their departure has still not been revealed.”

“We’ll be at 14 for a while, and we’ll drop back to 12,” noted B12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby, referring to a league that could contain both those arriving and those departing for a couple years.

I got a feeling the Big12 is going to cut Texas and OU a deal to just go ahead and leave so they can get some normalcy going with the new schools that are joining...I just do not see both of them staying till 2025...It's like having your ex live with you until she finds a place to live...Very uncomfortable situation.

The Big 12 has them on the hook for $140-160 million dollars. It's way more uncomfortable for the "we're going to play with the big boys" guys not even winning the lesser conference they're leaving.

I'd make them sit and lose to the Big 12 teams or pay to lose to the SEC.

The Big 12 holds all the cards.

Agreed the Big 12 can use that payday. Some of the schools they are replacing Texas and Oklahoma does not guarantee a seat when playoff system is restructured. They might be forced use some of that to go poach another team or 2 and be willing to pay those power 5 exit fees. Nebraska and Colorado could could consider rejoining the Big 12 once Texas was out of the picture.

In the long run, I'll predict the Big 12 doesn't survive the post-NCAA football transition whether it's pro or still "amateur" as a major conference.

Maybe it'll end up as 4 super conferences: North, South, East, West and some Big 12 teams get in and the rest are essentially D2 schools.

Nebraska would be walking away from bigger than SEC TV revenue. Like Vandy, even being a doormat for a mansion is a good gig.

Oklahoma is a top 10 revenue producing program. They cleared $60 million in profit in 2019. The idea that they are cash poor is nonsense.
The Big 12 Reloads to Offset Oklahoma and Texas Leaving

Big 12 bylaws require leaving schools to give 18 months of notice and pay a hefty exit fee equivalent to two years of revenue distribution. Based on the Big 12's most recent tax filings, that penalty would be about $80 million.Sep 10, 2021

$80mm exit fees plus media rights. OU doesn't have that kind of money until the TV contract runs out. Neither school has given their 18 month notice which will cost them even more if they leave before giving notice.

If the Big XII thought they could hold UT and OU past next year, they wouldn't have pushed BYU off til 2023.
That was a BYU decision according to the BYU President in a pre-game interview before this year's BYU/Baylor game.
