Others blame injury, Vols can't?

Put all the excuses in the universe together and get rid of them, that's how many we have for losing to USCjr.

Just thought I'd say it differently.

Count the injuries and we did not have a talent advantage. Checked the recruiting etc. before the game and was worried.

ugh. you're fielding a veteran offensive line, sr. qb, Jujuan Jennings, Josh Malone, Tyler Byrd, John Kelly....you're telling me that we were at a talent disadvantage?

minus Kamara the offense had really zero reason to perform the way they did...except that they did.

would injuries on defense explain giving up some plays and yards on defense? sure.

but the reality is, no matter who's been on the field this year, this team hasn't been consistent in terms of turnovers, penalties and missed assignments.

and you're coming off a bye. do you remember that double time out in the 1st half that resulted in a 7 yard sack on 4th down? that was just a microcosm of what that team brought to the table that day.

but for arguments sake, let's say that Wil Muschamp in year 1 does have more talent than TN...that's not exactly a ringing endorsement for CBJ either now is it?

winning road games in the SEC is hard. no argument. but we didn't 'get beat by a better team' that day. TN beat TN.

The answer here is simple. SC mush rushed, giving JD all he time in the world to pass. They held personnel to the outside shutting down the outside zone. By dedicating so much to stopping the run, they virtually abandoned the pass . Sometimes receivers were not covered at all. JD could not hit the passes. The other positions just dont matter if you cant get the ball to them.

A serviceable passer would have had 400 yards passing. You must question why JD is in his senior year and is no better than this. I expect every team we play this season to employ a similar game plan defensively.

No offense to the OP, but I couldn't care less about the media and using excuses. Excuses don't win games. This team and staff need to get over the injuries and who's not going to play. Come together and go get these last three wins.

On the day we learn it caused a few more folks like you to be permanently committed to a hospital for the insane.

Then, it will no longer be acceptable.

You do realize that mostly I poke at this for fun? No, I don't think Jones can coach. And I like to post on the boards from time to time. But I have quite a lot of other things that occupy my time besides thinking of UT football or what other message boards fan think of me. I just find it pretty amazing that people will just defend whomever the coach is until the bitter end. It was the same deal with Dooley. So many wanted to keep believing in him until there was no way around his ineptitude. I guess it will be the same way with Butch Jones.

If you are waiting on this to send me to the nuthouse you'll be waiting a long time my friend. They could rehire Dooley and that wouldn't even do it. Now, raising 3 daughters, that may do me in. But definitely not Butch Jones.

Definitely was his worst game of the year....probably career
