I was checking out a Clemson board and it was an eye-opener as to how other fans feel about the state of Tennessee football. Here are some of their posts....

Funny thing is that everyone in the SEC made fun of the spread offense when Meyer brought it to town, and now just a couple years later everyone and their mother in the SEC is scrambling to hire someone who uses it.

I would say UT is a higher profile program than Clemson is nationally, but as far as actual play on the field there hasn't been much difference recently.

The only attraction to me would be more money and/or the possibility that Fulmer's seat may be a bit hotter than Bowden's right now (but that's hard to say). Plus I do think if you have a great offense at UT more people nationally are going to notice it than if you have a great offense at Clemson. But to be honest i'm not sure why that would matter b/c the people who know football and create jobs will find talent no matter where it is.

My mothers side of the family (herself included) consist of 5 immediate family members who are UT grads, including my grandfather who played OL back in the day with Johnny Majors.

I've been tailgating, ridden up to the stadium on the river, sat in club level seating, on the 50 yard line about 30 rows up, etc... all at UT and the place isn't even any louder with 100K+ than Clemson is with 80K.

I mean, don't get me wrong the entire state is sold out to UT and thats cool. What is it, either Easttown or Westtown Mall has the huge campus layout in the marble flooring? Really cool! But gameday experience isn't even close. Tailgating at Clemson is better, entrance is better, the seats aren't NEARLY as cramped or make u feel like your gonna fall forward out of them.

Of course this is all first hand experience talking.

Tennessee is an overrated joke of a program who is gonna get creamed by some slow big 10 team AGAIN in a bowl this year. For you idiots from Knoxville (with that putrid sick excuse for orange) who think this is some huge step up from Clemson, please take a step back. You guys have been on a sliding slope for years now, admittedly not as fast as the 'Noles, but you have nothing to brag about anymore.

Fall back on your SEC garbage, the only reason Spence would consider Tennessee is because you morons might actually be stupid enough to pay him 340,000 plus. If that's the case, have fun, b/c I've seen nothing in his play-calling in 3 years to suggest that he is worth that much money.

Remind me again why I should care what people who consider the Esso Club is the height of culture think.

What a shock. A Clemson fan thinks that Clemson's gameday atmosphere is better than Tennessee's.

There's absolutely nothing surprising in those comments. Most of it was reasonable and level-headed. The guy pointed out that Tennessee hasn't accomplished much lately (which they haven't) and he pointed out that Tennessee is a more nationally relevant program than Clemson (which it is).

It would be better to be down in the SEC than up in the ACC. ACC football is, on the whole, irrelevant. Anyone's record is going to look good when you play powerhouses like Duke, North Carolina, the current Miami squad, etc. It would be like having 5 Vanderbilts.

comparing Miami to Vanderbilt is like... nevermind, I see no reason to dignify that with an analogy

Remind me again the last time Clemson did anything relevant to the national scene.

I've been to a clemson game at clemson---it's nothing like UT. UT's atmosphere is second to none.

Clemson is, quite possibly, the best gameday atmosphere in the ACC.

That said, it would be in the lower half of gameday atmospheres if Clemson played in the SEC.

This is comical.....he probably got our tickets for the So Miss, Ark St, La Layayette, etc.... Come to a night game vs. FL, UGA, BAMA, etc!!! Remember what Nate Longshore said in 2006????

Besides, I played Fball for UTC and we played Clemson in 92 or 93.......... I was certainly not impressed with anything.......Croud noise, atmosphere, facilities, etc.

i went to the peach bowl or chicken bowl when clemson spanked us and you would have thought that clemson won the super bowl. it was really sad. lets all go to tampa and cuss wisconsin and tell them how bad their program is. clemson has a semi-good program but fans like this rim job need to quit touching their little rock and quit whining their coaches might leave for better teams and more money.

Does helping get rid of Woody Hayes count? If so there you have it with their 1981 performance thrown in.

I remember all to well the whuppin they put on us in 03, disgusting. Crow about that all you want.

But with that said...a neutral observer would quickly point out that on a national scale Tennessee far out ranks Clemson, in the past, present, and I would even bet in the future.

I don't understand someone from another school, especially outside of the conference, busting on another school. I understand bashing amongst conference foes, and willingly participate especially against bama and the hated gators.

PS: Since you started this crap, your orange sucks. Oops, my bad, I just slipped into clemsonspeak!:banghead2:

That Orange Bowl was on CSTV at about 3 in the morning a couple of nights ago. Danny Ford was wearing the worst looking baseball cap of all time.

Who cares what happens in the Peach Bowl, honestly.

when Tennessee plays in the Peach Bowl...that's when every Vol fan should care. Who cares what happens in the Outback bowl? Me, but only because my team is in it. If Tennessee were playing in the Armed Services Weedeater Poinsetta Insight.com Bowl I would care about it.
