Other coaches view Pruitt as lifelong DC

His ego and stubbornness is the main reason why he’s not qualified to be an SEC HC.

No coach in the SEC nor any other conference would have JG as the starting QB.

Defense no longer wins games in today’s game. You need an explosive offense that can score points to keep up with the opposing team.

Saban adjusted to it while Pruitt thinks his defense can overcome a bad offense.

You could tell by the lack of HC interviews that he got that this is his reputation. The fact that Memphis wouldn't even throw hometown boy Jimmy Sexton a bone and give Pruitt a token interview after Fuente left is pretty telling. The only known HC interview that Pruitt received was one at MSU and they had identified Moorhead as the guy even during Egg Bowl week 2017 when Mullen was halfway out of town.

Pruitt doesn't have a defense. He isn't a guru creator. He's mimicking Sabans defense from 4 years ago. And in 4 years, he'll still be mimicking it. He has never shown an ability to be adaptive. He's simply parroting what Saban has told him to do in the past. What we have here is another pretender, plagiarizer, just like Butch. The only difference is, Pruitt came from the Saban camp so he's got that gruff attitude. I'm calling it. Pruitt will never be what we want him to be, what he wants to be, what others have said he could. The failure to realize he was just a puppet for the master has to be noticed and fixed sooner than later.

Ugh, more garbage clickbait from A to Z Sports Nashville, the trashiest Vols sports media outlet. Not a single fact in the entire article. They claim 'rival coaches view him as lifelong DC', but cite not a single rival coach, not even anonymously.

Whether it's true or not is irrelevant. A to Z Nashville is just making s#$@ up. They are blindly throwing darts. You can't trust a single thing they put out. They are like the sports media equivalent of "Grumors".

They are pure garbage I feel. NegaVols who started their own little podcast is how I view them.

Said this in another thread. Pruitt has proved He’s not HC material. I firmly believe he is a great DC that players love... but the crown lies heavy. He makes a good general, but not a good king. He’s in over his head and it shows more every week.

If we were smart, we cut ties now and get a proven coach. Competition for HC is low right now, hence, we could get a great coach for less. Pruitt’s buyout is still going to be large next year. Players, recruits, and fans are gonna bail putting us even further in the hole.

It’ll cost us far more to wait until next year to do what we all know is going to happen regardless.

A new coach can come in and immediately remedy fan apathy, players leaving, and recruits bailing. Waiting hurts us more. I waited with Butch... not making that mistake again.

Looking back at the search, wonder if Pruitt was a panic hire, much like Butch Jones was in Handsome Dave Hart's football coaching search? Hart was told no very loudly and Charlie Strong changed his mind such that Hart panicked and panicked again on Donnie Tyndall. Fulmer came in under the auspices of being able to start fixing Tennessee football, but he may have been surprised to see how few division one head coaches really wanted to come work for him, so he panicked, signed a deal, may regret it by Christmas time this year.

You're correct and I'm not a Pruitt supporter.

Writing an article like this without any quotes from anonymous coaches is beyond bad journalism.

Pure click bait.

That’s simply not true, he was a great dc at Georgia and fsu. He may develop into a great head if we give him time, but I have no explanation for why he won’t bench Guarantano.

As true in most of the media these days. A total lack of integrity.

In this case it's ok. They feed my confirmation bias. I WANT to believe this stuff.

That in itself is a condemnation of Pruitt.
