Time for a new blackberry and I'm trying to decide between the Pearl 8130 or the 8830.

curve, and it isn't close because of the keyboard.

Might wait a bit because I understand the Wi-fi version is coming soon (or is the 8830 the larger one with the Wi-fi?).

If you're not sold on Blackberry, I use the BJ2 and am happy with it (until the new Apple or Wi-fi curve hit the street)

I have got the 8830 and love the scheduling feature, I never could use a palm because of the hassle with the little stick pen thing, but this is so easy you just scroll down and type. Love the phone I owuld suggest it, the only thing that sucks is people can pic message you, they must email it, and if they do pic message you you then have to go to the VZW site and check it and if your friends are like mine you have just wasted 5 minutes to go and look at some fat woman in a bathing suit with some funny remarks, it just is not funny most of the time but you still check to see if it is something important. But overall the Blackberry series is great and you will soon learn why they call them "Crackberry", let me know if you questions. Oh yeah and I have fowarded my office email so it goes to my PC and blackberry email accountm and I can reply from anywhere, great for a realtor

curve? Is that the 8830 I assume?

Yeah, I have used a blackberry for many years. If you depend on email, they are a must. The current version I have is about two years old so I'm looking for the best replacement. I like the full keyboard of the 8830, that's a big advantage but I understand the Pearl has a memory card and will take a standard set of headphones (for listening to music).

I haven't seen OTD on here in a hell of a long time.

Me either but it never hurts to see if maybe he's been lurking.

I just ordered the Curve and it has WIFI capabilities. I know the next BB up from it also is WIFI capable.

I have the 8830 and my bro-in-law just traded his for the curve. IMO the curve has a better keyboard for typing than mine and a camera (and music player I think).

I would be willing to take a used Blackberry off of someone's hands for a reasonable fee. No one probably has the Verizon compatable version here though.

Any negatives to the Curve? I think I'm going to get one soon.

Been using the base-model Curve since February (actually bought it from one of the members here) and it's been great. Scheduling is cool, tons of customizability is nice. The apps are out of this world, Google Maps and GMail have ruled hard for me.

The only complaint I have is the internet browser. It seems to only want to work half the time, and when it does, AT&T's edge network is not *that* good. Only for use when you have full bars. Sometimes it just plain bugs out.

If internet browsing is most important to you, then I would recommend a Sidekick or iPhone. I've had considerable time using just about every major smartphone on the market, and these two have the best internet browsers and it's not even close.

I really don't have much need for mobile internet browsing. Mainly, I need medical apps, a calendar, email, and Bluetooth.

If you are only considering the 8130 and the 8830 the 8130 takes it just from a size standpoint, plus camera and better multimedia. As others have stated if the Curve is an option it's no contest. I got the 8130 because of the size but if the Curve had been out I would have gone that route.

Then the Curve will work great for you. Especially if you have GMail.

I hear there's an app in the works for my blackberry that will allow me to use it as a scan tool and lab scope for working on cars. I know Palm already has such a program.

As a multimedia device yes, the iphone is better, As a business/email device the iphone can't touch BB.
