Oregon Transfer VJ Bailey commits to Tennessee

I'm not a fan. I am a product consumer. At this point, I do not care for a significant ingredient in the product, so I choose to allow myself to be apathetic. I do not like fig newton's due to the fig filling. I do not actively root against fig newtons.
Fig newtons are, like, "why you gotta bring us into this on Volnation? We don't want to be debated like JG, as being either the best cookie of all time, OR a stale outer crust with chewy middle, marginally edible treat, which has no business being on Kroger shelves. Next thing you know, there'll be a petition against fig newtons."

Well, I am a loyal Vol fan and my problem with UT has always been that it refused to pay top pay for high level coaches. I’ve been a fan a long time and about the only top level coaches hired by UT were Johnny Majors and Barnes. And both fell in our laps. Johnny of course was the original VFL and came to UT by loyalty and Barnes found himself without a job and we needed a coach. We got a great deal on him when hired.....basketball gods smiled on us. We’ve struggled in the abyss in football trying up and comers, and chased many basketball coaches of the same ilk. I’m glad the admin payed up and that Barnes stayed. I’m tired of wandering in the wilderness.

Bingo. Money well spent and besides the increase in ticket sales already paid for the raise

Cable, tickets, concessions, parking, shirts and hats, streaming service, taxes. Need me to continue?
So you'd have been a happy camper if all those prices stayed the same, we endured another embarrassing coaching search and went back to winning 15 or 16 games a season and a NCAA appearance once every 4 years.

Some of our fans have forgotten what happens when you actually have a successful head coach who is a hot commodity that other schools want...guess, we would be have been better off to let him leave so we could start another coaching search for a mid-major coach on the cheap...lol

Not at all. The issue here is why I don't like Barnes. It is because he orchestrated the entire ordeal. He then took advantage of an inexperienced AD in a difficult circumstance and negotiated a clear overpayment to which he has not and will not live up to. Rising prices and a coach near market value would be fine.

They were forerunners of Apple Newtons, so they deserve some respect.

im not disgruntled, i just dont agree with everyone here on every topic just because since i'm from knox and went to UT, that I should be loyal in the face of obvious ignorance by the people that run the school.
In what era did you go to school? I would have killed to have a team this fun to watch play when I was there in the 80s. We weren't an"elite" school then, I am hoping CRB can bring us back and not stick his foot in his mouth line the last coach that had success.

This is an argument on “what came first - the chicken or the egg”. Because of the SEC tv deal the schools in the SEC have pretty much all been raising their coaches pay and upgrading. To keep that sweet deal in the future, the SEC needs to produce an attractive product to televise. You don’t do that consistently by rolling the dice on unproven management. CRB has a long track record of consistently producing a high quality entertaining product and UT decided to pay the price to hold onto him.

As for the rest, I don’t attend many games because I’m not local. When I do attend I don’t typically buy stuff at the games and I don’t recall last time I paid to park. Don’t have a clue what you’re referencing on taxes as the UT athletic department is self funding.

When Saban deservedly got crazy big money to coach the tide then he reset the market. Rising tides raise all the boats. No way Pruitt deserves 3+ times the highest amount we paid Fulmer who won a natty, but that’s the market. If things continue in 4 years CRB’s salary will appear to be a bargain.

Please Tell me the manner in which I’m paying
I’m sure it has something to do with tickets and merchandise...which goes up every year regardless of what they pay our coaches. 😴

He’s sticking up for poor, gullible Fulmer. How can you be mad at him? 😢

CRB has no such track record remotely deserving of that salary. He deserved a raise and investment in his program. That is not what occurred.

I'm laying this at Fulmers feet. He could have called his bluff. He could have done that and still offered an appropriate pay raise. Barnes leverage disintegrated if the UCLA deal fell apart, and Fulmer still paid that level without production or history to warrant it.

Or he knows how the sports world really works better than a message board poster...and absolutely nailed it.

Now you are predicting the future to support your anger. If when he retires he leaves behind a program fat with upper level talent and the next guy comes in and takes them to F4s and championship games would you alter your opinion of him? would he then be worth the investment?

Boyd and Fulmer went to boosters for the money...how does that factor into your savvy, street smarts, prophet viewpoint?
High gas and Snickers prices, increased Dish fees, higher payday loan rates, beef prices increase, natural gas skyrockets, car prices,....

You just validated that you have an agenda. CRB absolutely has a track record of coaching winning basketball. Fulmer and boosters would be total idiots to pay for him otherwise. Doubt those guys would have done as well financially in life if they were as stupid as you contend. Rock is lifted, please crawl back under
