We earned our nickname in the 1800's, when Texas asked for 3,000 volunteers to fight the Mexicans. We sent 30,000. That's where it started.
We are the "Volunteers".
We are the home of the Smoky Mountains, country music, Elvis, the best barbecue you ever ate, world-class bass fishing, and "Memphis Blues".
We are good people.
We're an "east-west" state with a "north-south" attitude. Whether it's running the football, or hiring a new head coach, we prefer the direct approach. Pick a direction, and go.
We picked you. And you are now the face of Tennessee Football.
We expect you to absorb, and immerse yourself in the proud history of both our state and our football program. We expect you to be the "ultimate Vol". We expect you to win, and when you don't win, we expect you to at least compete.
