...won nine games and didn't have a player drafted, according to Jimmy Hyans.

Tennessee, UNC, Arkansas State, Boling Green, Toledo, San Dieigo State and Marshall.

What does that mean?

I don't know what it means for the other 5, but all of our talent was young, their time is coming. We'll have a lot of players drafted in the next few years.

What does that mean?

North should have stayed another year?

Randolph wasn't valued as he should have been (most couldn't imagine "lightn'in striking twice" like Coleman)?

Pearson was just average but made a half-a-dozen great catches @ Tennessee?

Kerbyson's dedication to playing for Tennessee anywhere on the line hurt his evaluation at one specialty?

Or...the NFL has yet to agree that "Tennessee is BACK!"?

just thinkin' out loud here...

Dooley was, among other things, a terrible recruiter. Vonn Bell thinks so anyway. And yes, I will take the bait. CBJ just may be a much better coach than a lot of people give him credit for.

Dooley drug TN really far down - to this level. Luckily this will be the last year and a bunch Butch's first and 2nd recruiting classes will be drafted next year.

Get drafted Vols.

I recall all those posters saying the BG QB was a sure fire draft choice after he burned us for a million yards...guess that didn't work out.

Haha yep, some saying he had enough potential to sneak into the first or second round. The general consensus is that we had just played an NFL QB.

Gotta love it.

That means that the NFL teams knew that there was talent available at Tennessee and they can wait and get them as free agents. Or, it could be that Dooley, being a coach in the NFL, could have told people who inquired about the talent available at Tennessee replied that that they were not of NFL quality.

One would think that the NFL knows that Tennessee's reputation of providing talent has waned so much since 2001, that why waste a draft pick on them.

Whatever the reason, Tennessee will have at least 7 players drafted next year.

Bodes well for the program IMO. We either won 9 games with no draftable NFL caliber players, or, we have a whole bunch of NFL players returning to a team that won 9 games last year and we should win more games this year. It's obviously the latter.

if he says that next year, then I would be concerned. Our draft able:good!: talent came back

I think it means this.. Fast forward 365 days..
Gosh, How are we gonna replace:
Hurd
Reeves-Mabin
Dobbs
Karmara
Sutton
Barnett
and more...

Of course the main reason why no NFL picks this year was Dooley's bulletproof method of picking talent - most notably offensive linemen:

This! I have no concerns, worries, cares about not having someone drafted. We had 3 guys that easily would of been drafted that chose to come back. I will take that any day over having them leave early just to have a Tennessee player drafted.

It doesn't help recruiting for sure. You go into a kids living room and sell the program to a 5 star...then Saban or Urban Meyer come in afterwords and tell the kid he doesn't have a prayer of being drafted if he goes to UT..."just look here. No UT kids were drafted. We had 7".
