Rumor is that Heisley made this hire as a replacement for Ivaroni, who he does not like. I don't mind seeing him as an assistant, as long as that is what he is here for. But I get the feeling the Ivaroni will be fired at the first sign of trouble next season and ONeill was brought in, so the team would have someone with HC experience to replace him.

That is his specialty, from what I've heard.
He better be at the top of his game then. :birgits_giggle:

Not sure it really matters.....unless they do something grand in the draft/FA.

There was a rumor that a talk was going that would send Travis Outlaw and the #13 pick to Memphis and Portland would get MM. Though Chris Wallace denied it on Vernon's show today.

I have no idea why Portland would have accepted that deal.

It matters because the Grizzlies' owner is cheap and meddling. And that is never a good combination. You can't start building an up tempo offensive team, then just switch to a defensive coach. Pick a plan and stick with it for more than 6 months. It takes time to develop a team, but Heisley wants to catch lightning in a bottle and sell the team at a ridiculous profit. He has no interest in winning.
