Had we not gotten completely clobbered by Alabama and they held back the dogs late, we might be ranked. We are not a top 25 team yet. We had our chance. The loss to South Carolina was embarrassing.

We got embarrassed by bama
We had a week off
We lost to a bare SC team
Beat an inferior opponent
And had to score 49 to beat Kentucky by 13

Tennessee isn't a good football team and doesent deserve to be ranked

I understand TN not being ranked. The fact that TN is 7-3 and still several teams behind being ranked in either the Coaches or the AP tells me the rankings are accurate.

Injuries have taken a significant toll. It is amazing what one game can do to a team. Had TN taken care of business against USCjr TN would be back in the top 10 or very close with a lot of positive discussion about the job Butch has done at TN fighting through major injuries.

Unfortunately, Dobbs had his worst game as a VOL against USCjr but it's over and done so let's support the VOLS and see them win out the regular season.

Go VOLS!!!

The SC loss was not expected and as a result we don't belong in top 25 right now. Beat Mizz and Vandy in a respectable fashion and the poll crap will take care of itself. Beat them handily and top 25 should include us.

Rankings don't really matter for us at this point. I'm sure we'll probably slide back in by the end of the season, though, after bowl games and everything. Probably end the year somewhere 20-25.

Didn't we go to our bench when we were up 49-22 against Kentucky?

Your seriously bragging about getting lucky against app?
Yea Tennessee played good ball against Florida
They got a lot of help and still needed a miracle against Georgia
They beat Tech lets treat em like champs
They gave up 600 to Kentucky.

Keep telling yourself they're a good team

That's the problem had the coaches done their job SC shouldn't have happened. It's worse that they had a week off to prepare. As bad as the east is they shouldn't be begging for a Florida loss.

The team isn't good and the coaches are worse Shoop included.

What is annoying is, yes we are. You think San Diego State or Troy would beat us?

Okay, I will play that game!! Had we not fumbled the ball so many times, we would have beaten A & M. Had we not had so many injuries, we would have beaten USC. Our only loss would have been to "O" Bama.
This would put us in the top #5 of the rankings.

On the other hand, had we lost to UGA like we should have lost and had we lost to App. State like we should have lost, then we would be looking for a new coach right now.

Probably not but they made that bed they sleep in it

You don't get ranked by beating teams your suppose to beat one being inferior competition

Why shouldnt Tennessee be looking? The team still can't start fast against good competition

Well...as inexcusable as the UCS loss was, our VOLS are a good team, just may not be great.

Heard Tony Barnhart say it last week, "Tennessee was a very good team that was decimated by injuries."

Oh, and let's pretend Kentucky isn't 3rd in the SEC and 17th in the nation in rushing offense....and that Boom isn't the number 2 rusher in the SEC right now. Fact of the matter is UA was the only team to hold him to dismal rushing stats this year.

UK virtually has no passing attack and their D sucks...but they are and have been a very good rushing team this year.

OP, I think you're almost exactly right. I'd modify it just by a point:

We are one win, and one FL loss to LSU, away from being ranked again.

Once we're 8-3, and likely headed for the SEC CG, we'll sneak back onto most poll voters' ballots.

Tony would be the first to say a positive thing to one camera and say something different to the other.

They may be 3rd that's great but it doesent excuse Tennessee not getting even slightly better against the run week after week. They just aren't getting it done and that's coaching not injuries.
