of the year for our beloved VOLS. The good thing for Tennessee, going into the game SEP24, UT should have 2 players in the run for the Heisman trophy. (Dobbs/Hurd) Florida has no player, defensively or offensively, even close to be mentioned with the word Heisman in this year's class. Tennessee should dominate on offense, and if Shoop earns his paycheck, should dominate on defense. Florida does possess a dynamite place kicker, so maybe they will be able to score 6 or maybe 9 points. Tennessee should be ahead by 21 or 28 at half. Dormady will probably clean up in the 4th quarter. Playing Georgia the following week-end in Athens will probably end with the same result. Any Heisman candidates on Georgia? Nope. Over-rated coach with a great defensive mind, but the dogs won't be able to match Tennessee's overwhelming firepower. Butch has all the pieces in place for a championship run. Butch is DA man. Have a strange feeling this year will be a huge shock for all college football fans, as well as the pundits who never have given Butch the respect he deserves. You heard it here first, the 2016 NCAA college football Championship will be won by the team wearing orange and white from the great state of Tennessee. GO VOLS, GO BIG ORANGE, GO TENNESSEE!!!!:good!:

And once again this thread is wrong. Every game is critical. If we won every game BUT Florida it would be a hugely successful season. Beating Florida would be awesome. Another loss to them would be just that, another loss.

If Butch can't beat Florida this year with the building job McElwain has in front of him and the talent stockpiled for us, then Butch just isn't the guy. It's that simple.

No offense, and I hope you are right, but how is Kirby smart "over-rated" when he hasn't even head coached a full season yet?? Not taking up for Georgia or Kirby bc I dislike them as much as anyone and hope we beat the brakes off of them. Just think the term over-rated is a little premature, but like I said I hope you are right!

I think we win in really anti-climactic fashion. Something like 24-10, but the game won't even be that close. I've always imagined a frenzied Neyland celebrating an epic beatdown of the Gators, but it will probably much more like the Mizzou game from last season where it seems kind of close, but the Vols are winning at the lines of scrimmage, and then you look at the clock and suddenly realize it's over and the Gators can't mount yet another miracle come back.

Butch will play ultra conservative and we will slowly wear them down. The biggest difference is that instead of choking in the 4th quarter, we will take care of business. A couple long drives and some quick 3 and outs by the defense. Victory formation with 2 minutes to go and UF out of timeouts.

1. Love the optimism, but this is pie in the sky stuff

2. Georgia's Nick Chubb has much higher odds of winning the Heisman than either Dobbs or Hurd

3. Butch doesn't "deserve" anything....he still has to earn the respect that the best/top gameday coaches have, in the way that he's rightfully earned the respect for being a great recruiter and program builder. Finishing the job on Saturdays is the final hurdle that he's gotta learn to get over.

4. I agree that this could be a special year but I reserve the right to be cautious and a bit skeptical until I see Butch finally win a game vs our biggest rivals, Florida and Bama. I too believe they have the pieces in place, but they had em in place last year as well to be better than an 8-4 regular season team.

5. Go Vols!!

We win by a FG....you are kidding yourself if you can say with a straight face that we will certainly dominate them.

Butch better not even think about brakes vs UF this year. If we can win by 80, we should win by 80. No more miracle comebacks.

Florida is the most critical game this year because its the first.

I said last year Oklahoma was more important than Florida because it came first.

Like Oklahoma last year, the Florida game will set the tone for the season.

We dominated them last year before the late game collapse. Remember we had over 250 yards rushing between Dobbs and Hurd.

The game will be at home this year unlike last year that was on the road. Florida lost more talent than we did. They'll have a new QB. We'll have a senior going into his 2nd year as a full time starter.

We SHOULD dominate them next year. But then again that's easier said than done. I personally will not be surprised if we beat them by 20 points this year.

Kudos for the way this man thinks! Bet his lives in Colorado!

Should and is actually doing it are two completely different things. Yes we should be favored and yes we should win comfortably, but stating it as a certainty is asking to be severely disappointed. One who has paid attention to this series over the last 2 decades can reasonably believe that we won't dominate them.

I know this is the TN board. And this is obviously a homer post. And I'm going to assume that you're a very young poster. But to predict that UT will lead UF by 3-4 tds at half is pretty bold........well actually extraordinarily bold. I wouldn't pick Bama to lead Vandy by that much at halftime. I know there is a lot of enthusiasm about the Vol's season, but to make such bold predictions, along with a NC, puts CBJ in a tough position. He has to win it all or, in your mind, will underachieve. The SEC East will be a "dawgfight". The SEC will be a war. No team will dominate. Better set reasonable expectations.
