I couldn’t see on tv or maybe I just missed it, but where were the receivers and backs on that play?

I ask because I was surprised no one was able to come back to potentially make a tackle.

Were they all deep? Were they all on the other side of the field?

Just curious

You should be worried about ALL of your players getting COVID...'cause of their "relationships" with Mrs. Mullens... (she REALLY misses Felipe)

There was one receiver in the area and 3 kentucky defenders. Not sure what our 5th year senior saw there other than triple coverage. He threw it anyway..

It looked a lot like the Gator Bowl pick-6. Defenders all over the WR, an easy pick, and TD. I suspect the rest of the team just watched in resignation after the interception.

I am not sure if the interceptor was a lb or a safety - but the interception occurred 8 - 10 yards short of any receiver and Kentucky has been doing a very good job of oski ing and flipping to offence. Very quickly he had an escort of 3 or 4 players and the only Orange person in sight was JG and he turned his back and was running away when I last checked. I agree very strange to see no one else even close and him turning his back and running away from the interceptor there at the end.

Selling corndogs in the stands to help pay off Pruitts fine for using his gaiter as a fashion statement.

The RB, #3, was running the same short dump route, he'd run three consecutive plays. Most WR's were 15-20 yds downfield, from the line of scrimmage. I think, JG anticipated the LB's cheating up, to stop the RB dump. He used his instincts, and forgot to use his eyes. The LB drifted back into the passing lane, and JG threw it right to him. All day, it was UK's plan to take away any and all deep threats. The dump was there all game long.
You take away UT's 50/50 balls, downfield, you will stop the Vol's offense.
That RB made a very half ass effort to tackle the LB. The O-line didnt even show on camera. JG tried, but there was a wall of blockers in the way.

I think it was Eric Gray close to him that made an attempt but ended up blocked and too far behind by the time he got clear. Its telling that on both pick 6s, there wasn't much effort to chase the guy down.

On the first one, no one had a chance. Pass out wide picked off by a corner in stride......he'd be able to jog into the endzone from 100 yards away.

The second one was made by a linebacker who picked it off between the numbers and the hashmarks. Usually, a WR is going to show up in the TV screen.

Depending on the route a guy runs and how quickly he realizes that it's going the other way, he's not going to be able to make a play. But, usually a guy or two find their way into the TV screen.

I don't think there was much chance on the first one. The DB caught the ball on a dead sprint with every UT player either deep or on the other side of the field.

On the second, your point is well taken.

Hyatt got de-cleated and Gray took a bad angle. Ran straight up a blockers hiney

Pruitt made a point to criticize lack of hustle trying to tackle him. That would be moot if he didn’t throw the INT.
Perhaps it was a hangover from the Georgia loss, but the guys really half-a$$ed it yesterday. The best way to describe the effort itself would be "disinterested".

The receivers were hiding in plain sight and decided it was too much effort to try and tackle the DB that made the interception
Lack of Effort is enough reason to never ever see the field again
