On the decline*

He was right about Okie Lite and he was right about aTm as far as I can tell.

i dont think this guy was too harsh really....

i am just hoping for an above .500 season.
that would be a success in my opinion.

i slightly disagree. With a favorable schedule and a newfound energy on Rocky Top I see UT with no less than 8 wins. I could be wrong. We just have to much going right for us right now. Go Vols!

i dont think talent is as bad as people say. If Kiffen can install some confidence and with EB and our defense we will win games.

Ok seriously, he's been the coach for 5 months now, its K-I-F-F-I-N, not Kiffen.

you know im so sick of reading sh!t saying how bad we are gonna be.i pray to god we are good next year, which i think we are gonna be.i think we suprise everybody, and then i can't wait to read how good we are and what a great hire kiffin was,and watch all these writers eat some crow pie.

It is very early to make bold predictions on next season, but I will predict this...no one on the Vols team wants to be around Coach Orgeron if they are a .500 team. How's that for "wild" predictions? I am excited for the new season and regime. 7 to 8 wins is not out of the question. GO VOLS

i think we hit the bottomw last year. i cant see any way this year isnt an improvement of what we saw on the field in 08

this article is fair. unlike most other writers, he isnt immediatley placing blame on the "decline of the program" upon CLK's comments. i do think that he underestimates the talent the roster currently has (as do almost everybody not associated with UT), but 7 or 8 wins is doable, with an upset or two (especially UGA in my opinion). it's good to see for once that sports writers arent attacking the program for CLK breaking some self-proclaimed universal code of new coaches that is seemingly tearing down the dignity of UT

I have been thinking about this article sense reading it earlier today. I think if its time of reference was better defined it would be much more acceptable to me and most of the other individuals on the board. I would have to agree that Tennessee has been on the decline for several years in it won/loss record, it recruiting, the coaching and motivation of the players and the national interest in the program. However, Tennessee football cannot be considered in decline for the last six months. I cannot say anything about the won loss record here as there is nothing to judge but the recruiting and the coaching and player motivation and certainly the national interest in the program is on the rise. Unfortunately Mr. Hayes timing on the article is just six months to late.

He's not far off... if at all about us. I don't get the lovefest with notre lame. Truth is....we are thin in just about every place you don't want to be thin at. Thank daddy phil for it. Some still wanted him around, now you see how dire the situation really was. The only problem i have with it is the fact it took hamilton three extra years to do anything about it. So that decision set this program back six years in total. I agree, its going to be 2011 before you can judge where this program is under kiffin. Be patient and thank the powers that be for putting us in this position.

I think it is reasonable for fans to wait until 2011 before expecting Championships, but I need at least an 8 win season next year. No waiting to be respectable. I can't go through another year like last year.

Weak schedule + experience at QB and Offensive Line = Notre Dame winning 9 games.
Yeah, then they'll get a hard dose of reality when they play someone a lot better than them. Their bowl losing streak will be safe.

Maybe true . . . but they've got a real shot at being 5-0 heading into the USC game.
