I am shocked by our bball team. After the poor showing at the NIT, they have really started the process of growing up. The ETSU game was a bit of a fall back but a win none the less. I was looking ahead at the SEC schedule and it looks very tough. I have not seen anyone other than FL and UK play in the SEC. Going by ESPN and Fox, it looks like we could be around 8-10 wins in the sec. That is not to shabby. Any pre-sec predictions? (oh yes, OSU will be tough as well)

We need the defensive intensity and skill to really get a whole lot better if we want to make a serious run in the SEC and get past the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.

We live off of the turnover margin and easy threes/twos. An inside man will beat us to death, but we have a nack of getting them into foul trouble. This is a very odd team. I agree though, more def will help out LOADS.

Dead on.

Against Texas, our first half defense produced little turnovers and we were down 15, but in the 2nd half, CBP upped the intensity of the press and we won.

We haven't used Chism and Crews much together this season, but I think as we get midway through the SEC schedule, Chism, Crews, Ramar Smith, JuJuan Smith and Chris Lofton will see a lot of minutes as a lineup.

I hope that they get more aggresive under the basket. I want to see them throwing down on Noah and comp. I know they are freshman, I just hope they can build some confidence and skills by that time.

Please, do you really expect to have any meaningful success against him this year?

I think this year is good so far. We have faced some gooood competition, and beaten them which was a plus. Just playing against the best is gonna make these young kids that much better. Realistically, lets just get all the exp. we can this year and win a few tournament games, then make our serious run next year or the next.

I hate to have high expectations for a team this young, but (some of) their performances make it hard to not get really excited about what they can do. I think they can go at least 8-8 or 9-7 in the conference, so that will make for a nice season while also gaining experience. Next year and beyond could be really special, while the opportunity still exists this season.

I hear jo-kim told CBP the only reason he came back was to beat UT. That's too bad. Dane will single-handedly beat them again this year....

I'm as TN as anyone, but I don't like our chances against UF and it has nothing to do with Noah. Their team lives and dies by the play of two TN recruits. If Humphrey isn't hitting the deep ball or Brewer struggles, they tend to struggle. Problem is, those guys tend to play well more than they don't.

i agree that when we are able to put chism and crews on the court, then we will be a team to look out for in march

im just really happy for jajuan. being from mcminn co., im just glad to see someone from around here really succeed up there.

dane, he may be my favorite player on the team. he could have both rotator cuffs torn off, 5 dislocated discs, and a snapped achilles and he still could make a free throw. i guess that's why bert calls him a warrior.

You apparently know nothing about Dane's actual play.

we beat them twice last year with the same exact roster.

Their's now happens to be one year more mature and one heckuva lot more confident.

If we don't get back better after our press is broken, they might shoot 90% from the floor and score 150 on us. I don't like our odds of scoring 151.

Correct me if im wrong but they lost to FSU. They're not unbeatable.

I'm not saying they're unbeatable. I said that I do not like our chances. If we shoot lights out from 3, we have a chance on any court against any team, but that could be said of just about any major college program.

My problem with our team right now is that teams shoot an enormous FG% against us. We HAVE to offset that by creating tons of turnovers with our D(because we commit a lot ourselves and) and drilling the 3. The 3 helps our lower FG% catch up with that of our opponents and the TO differential further bridges that gap by generating more attempts for the good guys. I don't see a very experienced UF team turning it over like they did last year.

All of that said, I hope we kick the living daylights out of them because I find Pitino2 and Yannick2 very annoying.

Yeah, just like everyone said before Memphis, Texas and Oklahoma State. ESPN on each one of those said "Ehhh, UT is good but I don't like the matchup. They will have to be lights out to even keep it close." Don't ever doubt this team.

The fun thing about this team is that everyone (even the coaches and the fans) aren't quite sure how good they are. But with the exception of the 2nd half against Butler and the first half against UNC, one thing is as certain as can be - this team will not be outhustled, and you can bet they'll be fun to watch in every single game. They're not afraid, and they're not cocky, which makes for great basketball.

Fans don't get to enjoy seasons like this one and the last one too often - and next year looks to be just as fun.
