Ole Miss “checkerboard” vs KY

Had anyone else noticed Ole Miss’s lackluster version at an attempt to “checkerboard” their stadium vs KY?

Yeah. Not great, but not terrible. The thing that stands out the most to me today, though, is that Ole Miss is wearing Kentucky blue jerseys. Did Kiffin do that on purpose in hopes of creating confusion? Ole Miss's colors are navy blue and red. Seems suspish to me!

Here's the thing. Tennessee wasn't the first to do a pattern or color swatch in the stands, but the fanbase does it very well and it's honestly remarkable how excellently it's executed given that the effort is entirely organic and doesn't involve anything more than a week's lead time via word of mouth. It also helps that the pattern chosen matches the school's iconic end zones, so it just works thematically.

Ole Miss is striping the stands of Vaught because... well, I don't really know. They don't do it nearly as well as Iowa/Minnesota or the other Big Ten schools (they've been wearing those striped overalls for decades), and as much as Auburn's doesn't work great it at least ties in with tiger stripes. Ole Miss needed to be pushing this from an institution basis from August if they wanted it to work well, which they didn't.

They do this fashion show crap where they wear a different coordinated color-Navy/Red/Baby blue to each home game. It’s lame. You only need three colors when you’re not THE color. We just need to show up in our traditional, proud Big Orange and win week by week. Screw the noise and screw the other conference teams.

I did notice Minnesota striped their stadium today too, it looks good.

I think Ole Miss stadium looks off because one end zone is solid, the other end zone is checkerboard, one sideline is striped, and the other sideline is checkerboard.

If Kentucky beats OM and Tennessee are they in the playoffs?
Good question-I still don’t see that unless Bama loses twice or somehow UK miraculously represents the East. The latter would mean a UK win vs UGA since there’s not a scenario where UGA loses twice and UK wins all east games except UGA. I don’t see UK beating UT or Ole Miss.

I don’t know what’s lazier - the Ole Miss “stripes” or the refs missing the blatant holding Ole Miss does on practically every play. Eh. Maybe every other play?
