What old sayings have you picked up in your years in this world ???

My pop used to tell me all the time !!!

Dont look a gift horse in the mouth .

Which means if someone gives you something dont look to see how old it is ( animals are aged by their teeth )or if anything is wrong with it , just accept it for what it is. ( a gift )

Another and alot of people scew this one up ecspecially people on tv .

You've got a tough row to hoe , I've heard some folks say road to hoe which would be really tough .

If I'm not mistaken , this comes from hoeing cotton ( which I did as a child )

A penny saved...........................................................................still won't buy anything

My granddad use to say these all the time.

"Buy you books, send you to school & you don't learn a thing."

Just before eating dinner - "Bag your ears & cram it in."

He had some more if I can remember them....

If I sat down and played cards with my grandparents and took notes I could fill up 10 pages of this thread. Some would be completely inappropriate. One I can remember is *pick a word* my foot. When we play uno and I change a color it's always, "Blue my foot!"

When one of us would shoot our mouths off......dad would say....."you can't put sh.. (crap) back into a horse" Meaning once the words came out..there was no taking em back.

Or

Don't be the little bull that runs down the hill and ****s one, be the big bull that walks down the hill and ****s them all
