OL candidates

ok did a quick google on top Oline candidates----bc something has to give:

Matt Luke (Clemson): Former SEC head coach and national champion with Georgia who is arguably the standard for elite SEC recruiting and development. How has Clemson's line looked this year? I am not sure.

Kyle Flood (Texas)
: Mastermind behind the massive, physical front at Texas who carries huge weight on the recruiting trail.....dont want this guy bc we sacked his QB 6 times Saturday.

Alex Mirabal (Miami)
: A tough pull away from Cristobal, but he is easily one of the most relentless five-star recruiters in the country. I like this guy. Miami has brought in hot shot NIL QBs and they all have had time to throw.

Phil Trautwein (Florida
): Moves guys to the NFL Draft at a high clip and is known for producing disciplined, technically precise units. Not gonna lie never heard of him.

Jim Harding (Michigan)
: A true developmental genius who consistently turns three-star guys into Joe Moore Award caliber lines. I like this guy too, we need someone who can DEVELOP!!!!!

Joe Rudolph (Notre Dame)
: Builds incredibly deep, blue-collar run-blocking lines that would bring serious physicality to Knoxville.

A'lique Terry (Oregon): A young high energy recruiter whose modern spread experience fits Heupel’s system perfectly.
Here are the salaries of these guys :

Luke- 1.2 million
Flood- 1.5 million
Mirabal- 750k
Harding-1.1 million
Rudolph-800k

Elarbee makes 900k

unless something has happened while I've been to a doctor appointment, we have an OL coach and he isn't going anywhere. He and Josh are tied together...
And that will be his downfall, if Heupel doesn't start beating ranked teams. If he can't see that upgrading his OL coach is necessary, then he won't be here in two years. There's a lot of head coaches out there, that can beat the Kennesaw State's of the world, making less money.

Be nice to have somebody who could recruit in the north as well, get us some of these big cornfed boys. We need an o lineman or two who grew up icefishing. Look at the NFL: buncha Paul Bunyan lookin dudes playing offensive line.

So is this your way of saying Heupel will not, under any circumstances fire Elarbee? If you answer yes, then I want Heupel gone. We don’t need a coach who is either afraid or unwilling to do whatever is necessary to win.

Question for you: I’m told GE is highly involved in offensive philosophy, offensive development, and offensive game-planning. It almost sounds like he is involved in coordinator duties, at least to a degree. If so, is he the one coaching technique to OLinemen? Is he teaching play recognition, various protections, and other mental aspects of OLine play or are there assistants to GE who teach that?

Makes me wonder if he’s spread too thin. Maybe GE should be something like “run game coordinator” with a dedicated OLine coach who is solely responsible for teaching the mental and technical aspects of the position group.

It will be Josh's downfall I'm afraid. You don't hire friends. The OL coach is one of the highest paid OL coaches in the country, and that position has been underdeveloped, not to mention that there have been a lot of misses in recruiting OL. So it is a development and evaluation problem there. It's the biggest position that is holding this program back.

I think there are analyst type assistants that help him with OL coaching in general but I'm not familiar with their skill sets as relates to coaching OL techniques. I would guess he is involved with all.

Yes, he is a key to the run game as part of the overall system. and if you research the stats at season ends, they have done well in that regard. Not Saturday but Florida with Baugh might have trouble against that front.

I wouldn't say under any circumstances. There is always a point where one has to pull the trigger even on friends. I've been there and know it to be true..

This was mostly on FB, not the line.

Keep your skirt on for a couple more games, Sally.

The truth that many can’t seem to acknowledge. Faizon had wide open receivers several times that he missed which led to him scrambling around and eventually getting sacked. You aren’t getting 4-5 seconds in the pocket against an elite defensive line like that of Texas.

Now, I’m not trying to drag Faizon. He’s a freshman and had never played against talent like that before. He will continue to grow. Had we gotten Aguilar back then we win Saturday by two scores.

The offensive line hasn’t had many issues piling up rushing yards and giving Brandon time otherwise this season (yes I know two of those three were tomato cans) but let’s see what happens this weekend before we run headfirst into the wall.

My sister was a employee where I was a boss and I fired her and didn't blink an eye. Friendship and family is out the door when it comes to doing a job.

The only answer is Sam Pittman. He is currently unemployed and is possibly the best OL Coach in the country! We could fire Elarbee today and bring in Pittman NOW. It needs to happen!

Being unemployd right now, and was once the UT OL coach before he got Lyle Allened, I think he'd not only be a good choice,
but very motivated to vindicate himself.

I don't know which one I would like to have, but I do believe we need an upgrade at the Oline position. If it means spending more money, it must be done.

As a veteran of 2 or 3 different doc appts this month, I hope you're good. And Elarbee is still with us.

Who doesn't like a good "vultures circling" coaching discussion before game 4? Feels like old times, eh?

People said that about Banks too. I think if there's not a huge improvement by the end of the season and it's obvious there needs to be a change, then CJH is going to make a change, because the current product just is not acceptable.
