Its being reported on TOS that while he says he fine and not going anywhere, his actions say otherwise. He did, in fact, make calls to several schools to see if they would be interested in him should he choose to leave.

Huge shock.

I hate to be the guy that says no big deal, but he has had two years to figure all this out. He could probably be a serviceable back but he isn't a game changer.

I had higher hopes for Oku when he came to UT. IMO it'll only hurt in terms of depth. He was third string, and would probably have never cracked the starting lin up. I wish him well whatever he does.

I think the added weight slowed him down this year a little bit. Dooley saw something in him at practice during fall camp. It's hard to determine what the problems are and why he's not been effective.

If DD does his job in recruiting he's done anyway because he has yet to show he's someone that can make a difference. Depth yes he's needed but little else.

I just dont understand this. The guy was the best player during spring practice and o & w game. Now he can barely get on the field. It has to be mental. He physically is capable of being a great player. What happened????

I like Oku and think he has potential but I get the feeling that he expects things to come more quickly than they have. He needs to work hard and play his way on to field. When he did that, he earned the #2 spot for a week or so.

I'm not calling the original poster a liar, but it is difficult for me to just blindly accept that Oku has been making calls to other schools without hearing some kind of source.

Not worried about this at all. Rajion Neal should easily secure the #2 RB spot by next year and Tom Smith will be a very solid #3. Oku hasn't turned out to be the speedy APB that everybody thought he could be out of highschool. He isn't good enough between the tackles for the SEC and isn't fast enough on the edge.

Picking up a guy like Bigelow, Bellamy or Romar as our change-of-pace back will more than make up for Oku leaving. Not going to Dooley and fighting for his PT tells me all I need to know about his desire to contribute and I'm sure that the same is true with the coaching staff....

I will root for him to succeed in a different conference, though. Well, as long as it isn't at USC...

If Oku is smart, he stays and builds on what he's done at UT. He starts over if he goes somewhere else. Unless he goes to a mid-major or FCS school, he would probably hurt his chances of ever playing a significant role.

Rexvol tends to focus on negative news and also to view neutral news as negative.

Oku is probably weighing his options. Even if he is 90% certain he's staying, he still has to see what else is out there for him. This is no different from someone letting a headhunter shop their resume even when they aren't inclined to quit their current job.

did you see Neal at the end of the year? I wouldnt be so quick to anoint him the #2 guy and you cant say Smith is #3 when he hasnt even stepped foot on campus (remember Brian Darden?).

i dont post much but i read a lot and i agree that rexvol is mostly close to the target but just like tennstud on tos he leans a little toward only talking about negative stuff. actually tennstud is all negative.

Confirmed by Hubbs on Volquest.com.

Maybe none of them were interested so he now indeed is fine. Maybe that's why he worked his way back to #2 recently because he had no takers and thought he better get to work again here. Just a thought.
