Defense was still coming together in those first four losses, played better the rest of the year. Against Bama, one touchdown was JG bad play resulting in Bama defensive touchdown, another Bama touchdown was after clear bad call against Taylor with Bama 3rd and 10 on their own 24, should have been 4th and 10 and punt but penalty gave them 1st down which then led to TD. Another bad 2nd down pass interference may have stopped a TD, but that is unknown. At any rate, defense can only be credited with giving up 21 points to Bama. So from Miss State on they really only gave up 21 points. Dline should be better, Dbacks better, LB may lack depth, but we will see, assuming we actually have football. GBO.

Even with two-a getting hurt, for us to beat the bammers we would have had to:
Outplay the most talented roster money can buy.
Beat the game officials.
Have no turnovers.
Out coach wee little nicky.
Have an actual offense that scores touchdowns.
We did none of those things.
The score was bama 35 points, Vols 13
You cannot spin away 14 points, but you did give effort.

OU may be playing the "time to heal " card with more than one agenda. MOF, if they aren't, then they are missing an opportunity to influence future game schedules in their favor.

Don’t care what they’re doing it for, still gives them 2 weeks of practice going into Tennessee game. If Oklahoma can pull that off I think we might as well match it.

Two more weeks will not help our offense.
We scored more than 30 points once last season.(45 vs UTC)

So, if the remaining 3 P5s go conference only, do you think the SEC and ACC will agree to provide for long standing cross-conference rivalry games - GT vs UGA, FSU vs UF, SoCar vs Clemson?

The kids need it otherwise rosters are going to overflow and they could miss getting to play if that happens. Which could end up hurting their shots at the NFL etc.

Also, what’s to guarantee that if they won’t play in the fall that they will play in the spring? Last time I checked this virus did its worse in the spring time.

Not to mention every season not played puts college athletics in jeopardy. Schools will not make enough revenue to continue their sports. While this does not hurt the big schools permanently it can hurt the smaller schools indefinitely.

The virus isn’t going away and there is no 100% answer if a vaccine will help effectively enough to make a difference. So. Yeah.

How many college football players have died from COVID? Just curious. We have sure heard of alot of positive tests out there. 23 in one whack from Clemson. Anyone die?

The non revenue sports would be sunk. That's alot of kids that won't get scholarship opportunities. Golf? Bye-bye. Women's soccer? See ya!

If they die or not isnt the issue. It won't play out well in the papers if a bunch of white people force black players (kids) to play a contact sport for their entertainment and they all get covid.

Only white people like to watch football? Anyways, shouldn't the players decide if they want to play or not? Bet 90 plus percent of them want to.

No problem.

If we play football this fall, Vols-Sooners is almost certain to be the first game of the season for both teams. Their cupcake start and our cupcake start are both almost certain to be cancelled as we go to a Conference-only or (more likely) Conference+1 scheduling model.
