Article on OU vs Vols game

"If we lose to Tennessee, it's a problem. It's a school that no longer has elite talent and who plucked a coach whose only success was at mid-major."

Another fan admits that it is more plausible to lose an OOC game to us than, say, Akron or Tulsa...

Smh...

Hopefully that nonchalant attitude carries over to their players as well, I love when we are the underdogs. No reason we shouldn't win by 10+ if we play like we should.

The elite talent comment got me. That guy clearly has not been paying attention.

All being said, when these fans visit in September, return the hospitality and welcome they extended to Volunteer fans in Norman last year. Classiest and friendliest opposing fanbase I've ever witnessed. :salute:

Hopefully, their team feels the same way about UT. If they have an overconfident attitude coming into the game, then we've got them right where we want 'em.

That is what I was thinking. Where has OU been ranked in last two recruiting classes? 15th in '14 and 14th this year according to Rivals. Also the comment about not understanding why we hired Butch. Wait until 9/5 and he will find out why.

THIS^^^ Last year in Norman (other than the outcome of the game) was one of the BEST experiences I've had in almost 50 years of attending Tennessee football games. And...we gave them a game till into the 3rd quarter. I'm looking forward to hosting my Okie friends in KnoxVegas in September to return the favor. But, looking forward to a different game outcome.

As an OU fan, those comments on the UT talent are just embarrassing. Any moron could see in last year's game that your talent level was there, your guys just needed experience, which they gained last season. The article in that thread was written by someone who obviously lives in a paper bag, because he got many of his facts wrong and his grammar was appalling.

Regardless, I and my lovely bride will be in Knoxville come September 11 to enjoy a night of revelry prior to game day. Then on the 12th we will be in Neyland (for the first time) to cheer for our Sooners, win or lose. Can't wait!

Well, in my eagerness to read this news, I misinterpreted the quoted comment as leaked chatter from higher up's of the "Oklahoma Board," rather than their board.

The fan/poster is in obvious denial of the talent of one Cam Sutton, and has forgotten Derek Barnett.

I hate that we settled for 2 5* RB's. We should at least be shooting to get some 7* players.

.....AND HAD UT HAD A DIFFERENT OR MORE EXPERIENCED OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, OU COULD'VE LOST TO UT LAST YEAR. IT WAS LITERALLY DOWN TO JUST A FEW PLAYS FROM GOING EITHER WAY.

The fumble that wasn't a fumble....

I blame Worley's pick 6 squarely on the OC. Just stupid nonsensical play call. Also, the corner route play that got picked. It was thrown to wrong WR......meaning OC had wrong personnel in for that play. The right personnel more than likely catches that pass and result in TD for UT.

"It's a school that no longer... ________________________." At the least, we no longer have to fly to this matchup, which should be of some value. The freshmen we started last year, are no longer freshmen. The OL, is no longer totally new. The starting QB, is not only no longer a question at this time of the summer, but, is also no longer only highly-talented in passing completion (roughly 65% -- thank you for a well-played game, JW), but also the run. And as pointed out above, we no longer have only one 5* RB, but two.

Should be a great game. Go Vols !

They whipped UT's a$$ last year so why would they think differently?

This. After they stomped us last year, I doubt they gave us a second thought all season.

They had 5 losses all season, so by the end of the season, they probably thought they were just mediocre. What would that make us in their minds?
