OK...real thoughts..who can we beat

Like this year. We will have to wait and see how the team buys in to the new coaching staff. how that staff game plans for the opponent and plays to our strengths. We will get a clue after playing Oregon next year.

12 games.
we will not beat Oregon, Florida, Bammer,
what about ky, Vandy, UAB, starter game(OHio is it) those should be 4 wins.
who is homecoming...Memphis...on thats 5
can we beat UGA, uscjr, and what is it Ole miss and Auburn?

so getting to 6 wins will be a plus? I think we will be more effecient on offense. We should have more targets. The young guys from this year will have some expierance. There is some continuity with Chaney, Thompson and Garza still on staff. But most non work clothes I seem to collect are orange, so maybe I see what can be ... so I say 8.

we get 7 even if we dont land another recruit but we will and we will win 7 or 8 counting bowl unless our oline gets solid in a hurry and tyler bray plays fantastic,we are good at these positions rb loaded ,wr d moore ,gerald j maselous teague huter will play early and a few redshirts or sophmores.our de were stacked a couple of de could move to lb if we dont sign another,db and saftys

Til you go through spring practice and get a real idea of what freshman we have coming in, there is no way to tell.

No proven qb, four new starters on the o line, no idea how well reveis and Thompson come back. New offense. New defense. Best case scenario with what we know now is probably around five wins. And unfortunately that's not a low end, I think that's the over/under, things break our way it could go up. Things don't go our way and it's a real posibility ky and USC could beat us.

if our recruiting is done, not saying it is..
how many games do we win next year....
i say getting to 6 will be hard
We play UT Martin, UAB, Memphis, Kentucky, and Vandy. We destroyed Georgia and Carolina last year, and I don't see either of them being any better. We get Ole Miss at home this year, without McCluster. I think 10' will be another 7-5 type of season.

I don't know I'd ga or USC will be better or not. But there is not much evidence that we will even be as good as we were this year.

Is it a given that that stephens or bray will lead the sec in touchdowns thrown and really play like an all American? Is it a given that brown and oku can equal hardestys season? Especially with four new starters on the oline. Is it a given reveis and Thompson come back 100 percent? What strong safety is going to step up and make all those tough run support tackles that berry made last year?

I'm not saying ut can't have a good year. All of the above questions and all the rest I didn't ask can be answered positively, but the odds are incredibly long. Even before x left it is generally accepted that 10 will be tougher that 09. Until you can see a majority of these questions answered positively it's logical to expect we will not be as good as we were this year when we won 7 games.

I don't disagree with any of that. However, the OP said that it would be a struggle to get to six wins. I pointed out 5 games that should be automatic (Note I said should). Then I mentioned 3 games that should be at the very least toss ups. If we don't go at least 7-5, I will consider it a major disappointment.

I know. I didn't mean to Sound like I'm arguing with you. What your saying is reasonable. I guess my point is that looking at our situation as it stands I'm not even sure we can put all three of those games in the toss up category. We have a LOT of questions to answer right now. If the qb play is like was in 08, I don't even think those five are givens. Or if the line doesn't jell into a really good unit, same result. Or if we get the same lb play we got after the injuries this year, we will get run over by everybody, and I mean everybody. Will some of these things turn out favorably? Odds are they will, but if even one does not, then I think five or six is the ceiling.

9/4 UT Martin Win
9/11 Oregon Loss
9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Loss
10/9 @Georgia Loss
10/23 Alabama Loss
10/30 @South Carolina Loss (payback for last year black jersey game)
11/6 @Memphis Win
11/13 Mississippi Toss up
11/20 @Vanderbilt Toss up
11/27 Kentucky Toss up

5 to 6 wins given our inexperience on the OL and lack of stars in the secondary. No Rogan, Berry for sure and perhaps JJ if he decides to transfer to USC or gets in trouble.

I disagree with more than just this, but don't count UT out when we play LSU. I know it's in Kitten Stadium (not sure if it will be a night game or not), but LSU is headed down. Miles can't really recruit nor is he very good at coaching. They were 112th in the nation in offense last year, and haven't done anything to significantly upgrade that. They still have that hack offensive coordinator Gary Crowton (who looks like Widmore from LOST), and they are loosing a lot on offense (Brandon LaFell, Keiland Williams, Trindan Holliday, and Richard Dixon). Also loosing significant depth from both sides of the line.

Point being, I wouldn't be so quick to write off LSU as a loss. I myself might call it a tossup. They still have the perception of being a good program, but believe me as I listen to the sports radio everyday down here, they are quickly headed downhill. Miles can only ride on Saban's coattails so long.

The team is no better than the 5-7 to 7-5 range unless Bryce Brown and Bray both have outstanding years. I hope for at least 6 wins with a surprise or two.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I'm just trying to make a point. This is why proven coaches who have a lot of offers shy away from a program in the current state of uts. We have tradition, we have facilities, we have money, exposure and great fans, but we also have fans that areaccustomed to us having great tallent as well. With the tallent we should have brought in over the last four years, we should expect to win. But in your post you a greed that we have no qb, no returning line, not enough returning lbs, and we have to replace one of the greatest players all time on defense. You know we haven't recruited well and are down 22 scholarship players. You know the recruiting class will be good at best (go dd!). But you still say less than 7 wins will be a major disappointment. I know how you feel, this sucks discussing whether we will win 5to 7 games. We should never have gotten to this point, but here we are.

6 wins

UT Martin, UAB, Memphis, Ole Miss, Ky, Vandy

Georgia and SC on the road is bad news.

We have not had issues beating UGA on the road in the past. They are also breaking in a newbie at QB. I feel this is very winnable. My vote is 6-7 wins. Oregon is a brutal out of conference opponent...but win that game and it will spring board the teams confidence!

I would be very very happy with these results. I think we can get Ole Miss and UGA next year if a QB steps up.

9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB W
10/2 @LSU Toss Up
10/9 @Georgia W
10/23 Alabama L

True, in discussing LSU in depth, I forgot about FL. They have no Tebow, (Brantley's not bad, but he's no Tebow) Brandon James, Brandon Spikes, Riley Cooper, and they had something like 5 juniors declare. They will still be good, unless Meyer jumps ship after NSD, but I agree with tennfanatic that they will be beatable.
