Ogumoro transferred from White Oak High School in North Carolina to Elgin in Oklahoma earlier this year. Elgin Head Coach Chalmer Wyatt shared what he has seen from Ogumoro this spring.

“The first thing that sticks out is his footwork,” Wyatt told Volquest of Ogumoro’s game. “He is light on his feet for his frame. He has a really good punch and after being out with him in spring ball for the last week now, his physicality is better than we thought. It has been a really good spring with him.”

During their time together, Wyatt has also seen a high football IQ from Ogumoro.

“He is super smart, super sharp, and the matter of fact is he has only been playing the game of football for just a little bit,” Wyatt added. “He is raw, but at the same time he is really coachable and wants to be coached. When you have that quality about you, you don’t have to worry about him picking up terminology, schemes and coaching things that are all brand new. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but he has been really good here so far.”

What does this mean for the OL class?

Tennessee made Ogumoro a priority over the winter months. He is a versatile player with plenty of size and upside. This suggests Tennessee believes they can develop him into exactly what they want from an interior prospect over time. Tennessee has been plenty involved with high-quality tackle bodies in this cycle, so to land a commitment from an interior prospect they feel strongly about like Ogumoro is an important win ahead of upcoming June official visits, as the Vols start to build their trench class.
