The team that wore my beloved T on their helmet looked completely out of control on defense from the beginning. Our LB's are not good. Our DB's looked as if they were watching for clouds to make characters and were out of position all day long. They were and are not a very well coached and prepared team. Our DL did not look to bad but had ZERO help when Tebow was hurried. The reason? LB's are horrid.

Our Defensive grade = F (I would give lower but that is as low as it gets)

Our offense started the game moving the ball at will. Then our recievers remembered that they couldn't catch. Our Oline still cannot open a hole that you could slide a sheet of paper through. Every Oline I have ever been associated with prided themselves on run blocking. This Oline seems to be ill prepared and has shown little to no improvement in the run blocking schemes. Pass protection is good. WR on this team baffles me. Rodgers is quick but is not trustworthy. He drops way to many passes to be a starter in this league. It's not even the number as much as it is when he makes the drops. Erik Ainge is a very good QB and makes good decisions. He puts the ball where he should and too often is rewarded with a dropped ball or no blocking down field to assist in YAC's.

Offensive grade = C+

Special teams has been an issue at UT for a very long time. How a team can be good at one aspect and horrible at another baffles me. For years we have had good punters and PK's. But it seems like we rarely have a threat at returns. Our coverage has been bad for so long that I really have nothing to say other than there is not an acceptable excuse.

Special teams grade = D-

Our coaching staff has built a program that has seen the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lowes. The Head Coach of this team is 100% accountable and responsible for the actions and lack there of, of his team. No matter the team the HC is the top man and the buck stops there. They have a chance to show improvement this season therefore I will not yet say that our HC should be removed. But that would take the kind of coaching that we deserve and expect. The manner in which UT lost the 2 games is what bothers me the most. I knew that we may very well have lost these 2 games, but I would never have dreamed that it would be as bad as it was. I love my UT and will always. But I was embarrassed for all the greats who have donned the BIG ORANGE in years past and gave thier all. I was embarrassed for the millions of fans who pull year in and year out for our School. Those 2 games ARE NOT Tennessee football and I refuse to accept that as such. If our Staff fails to show improvement over last year then I think a change needs to be made.

Over all grade = F

Offense C+? For 13 total points and zero in the second half.

The QB play was good and the pass protection was good. Our RB's picked up the blitzes and did a nice job in protection. I know they didn't get any yards running but NO ONE could with the lack of run blocking that the Oline has. I went back and forth on the Off grade. I was going between a C- and a C+ and went with a C+ due to the afore mentioned.

hard to give the Offense a c+ with only 37 yards rushing and key turnovers...the INT in the red zone and the every so familiar AF fumble return for a TD.

maybe a bit harsh on rogers...he did have some drops, and i was really surprised because he had been so dependable up until this game. definitely didn't get off to a good start.

anyway, good recap beef...it was an overall abysmal effort.

Very good analysis. Do you believe that the current staff will be willing to admit some culpability and try to make some changes to right the ship or will they truly "stay the course"? What changes can they make at this point?

If/when a coaching change is made, are there any on the staff you would keep or would you just clean house from top to bottom? Any coaching candidates that you wish UT would pursue?

based on the articles up today, that's exactly what they intend to do. the same old "we believe in what we do here, and have been very successful in the past" type stuff is what rules the day.

That is the most frustrating thing for me.

I don't know Beef, I normally take up for Fulmer but you touched on it, the way we lost.At this point I hope coach Fulmer resigns at he end of the season. It just seems that here of late, these coaches have sucked the life out of our beloved Vols.We need someone at the helm attuned with todays game. Our coaches look confused on the sideline at times.

First, I don't care if they stand up infront of a crowd or camera or newspaper reporter and take responsibility as long as they get W's and make the team play the way they should.

As far as changing coaching goes? I will wait to comment.

Well, when I said "admit culpability" I guess I really meant more to themselves than publicly. I didn't really word that well. I get the sense that they feel that they don't need to change. What they are doing worked before and will work now.

I agree on the W thing. Just win, baby.

i'll just keep saying, cause it applies every time i see or hear that kind of comment from this staff:
"to perform the same actions over and over again, expecting different results is the oldest form of insanity"

this should be added as one of the Maxims. i just don't understand how anyone associated with this program can look at what has been going on for the, hell, just the last 3 years and not say, "we need to do something different, this just isn't working anymore".

so stubborn...........

the shot of CPF sighing on the sidelines in the 1st half after FL scored one of their touchdowns said alot to me....it was as if he said "here we go again".

and i was right there with him.
