Ohio newspaper on Schiano/Vols

Meyer is a dirtbag and I don't believe innocent, but can he "get away" via technicalities???
He should have fired him but didn’t until the story broke. Then at his conference’s major media event, he downplayed details of the 2009 assault and completely denied knowledge of the 2015 assaults and restraining order...implying that McMurphy was “making up stories”. TECHNICALLY he’s lied himself into a corner. And he’s lied about domestic assault allegations smack dab in the middle of the #MeToo movement. TECHNICALLY that’s horrible timing. Seems like his latest lie about reporting the 2015 assaults (when he lied about knowledge of them, why did tOSU officials remain silent?) gets him and his wife off of any employment hook, but it spotlights his more recent deception. The second best college coach at implementing a winning program because of his process and RECRUITING. Now that’s affected when he talks to mama’s who aren’t in Buckeye denial. I don’t think he survives this one.

tOSU did what every other university does; remain silent until it blows up in your face. What they still don't get is sooner or later, all this crap comes to light. I think you're right, Urbie is done. He is getting his bones picked clean on this.

SIAP but Fed Court in CO set precedence that domestic violence by a coach is not T IX offense in 2017.
Do you know this? Bc I dont like meyer, but I'm not sure why he would be fired. I mean it was domestic assault not sex.

I mean we all prolly know somebody abused. And my guess is you didnt call the cops bc it was awkward situation. I dont think he did anything wrong except lying about it at their presser. But a coach lying is nothing new.

I don't understand the Title IX talk. An assistant football coach and his relationship with his wife, as well as his employment, has nothing to do with anything related to Title IX. It may have a lot to do with his employment relative to his contract and university policies, but Title IX is specific to certain people and activities; and I can't see how this would apply at all.

I don't either. It reminds me a little of the media circus that was born after the Brown/Goldman murders. All sorts of pet cause agenda crap coming up in the interest of raising awareness and true justice being twisted up in the wake. In fact, things like this have been getting sideways ever since. I blame O. J.

Like it or not, a big time CFB job is at least 1/2 a popularity contest.

The biggest issue with Schiano being offered the job is none of us fans had a clue he would be the guy. There was zero chatter on him.

He’s just not a popular guy with people he’s coached, and his ties to PSU would never go over well in the Bible Belt.

Had the Haslams and Currie done the intelligent thing, and floated interest prior to offering, the fans would have spoken in not such an ugly, public way.

They didn’t of course, and luckily we won. Sure feels good now.

I don't believe the incidents in question must take place on campus. If they involve members of faculty, or student body it is still covered from my understanding.

It's one of those don't embarrass your employer situations. Kinda the same reasons why you never see UT coaches at the Emerald club or the Mouse's Ear. Sometimes, it doesn't have all that much with what is happening, and has more to do with what the public thinks might be going on.

It was a university of CO investigation I think.
