Ohio may be tougher than we expect

I see people predicting 56-0. I was looking at their last year schedule and they played appy state tough. They also destroyed Kansas last week.

We should be happy with a 35-7 win in my opinion. In fact we should be happy with a win and no injuries period.

After our first game...and the 1st Qtr Saturday...they are ALL gonna be tough.

This thread just reiterates the brutality that we as a fanbase have endured being Tennessee fans this past decade. We have been degraded to actually worrying about teams like Ohio and Appalachain State. When do we stop thinking like losers and start thinking like winners? I mean Ohio? Seriously??

I dont think beating Kansas should cause concern... you are talking about a power 5 program that rushed the field after beating am FCS team. Kansas is significantly worse than App State. Really, Kansas is probably the worst P5 team, worse than Kentucky, Iowa State or Vanderbilt.

I think the App State game should answer your question. No game is a gimme at this point

Ohio lost to Texas State in their first game. Also, Kansas had just come off an emotional win over FCS opponent Rhode Island where their fans stormed the field in celebration. It was their first win since 2014 so they were due a letdown

We need to play a weak team like Ohio so we can get this offense in rhythm for Florida. I hate to say this but Florida will make or break this team. The one positive I have for his team is that they fight thru adversity 100 times better than they did last year. Last year, if VT went up 14-0 on us we would have given up and folded. Now we fight for all 4 quarters and never stop grinding. We will really learn about this team when they play UF at home this year.

at this point we better not be sleeping on any team...just don't know how this Vol team will play...take nothing for granted...:crazy:

This game will start the same was as the previous ones. Everyone will wonder how the offense has regressed and when the new DC is going to show up to work.

Butch has played down to teams like this before (N Texas comes to mind)

Put them away early and get our starters off the field should be priority #1

The fact that the OP references this Ohio team is going to be tougher than expected because they had a close loss to app state last year is comical.

What is there to worry about? They lost to Texas state in 3 overtimes..... wow they beat Kansas.... a team that went winless last year and only won 3 games the year before that..... This is ridiculous to even suggest we should be worried... Tennessee 52 Ohio 3

I don't think winning is a concern at all, I just don't want Dobbs and others still taking hits in the 4th quarter

All of the 1st team players should be on the side-lines and out of pads by mid-way through the 2nd quarter. All of the first-team - except the Oline. They need all the practice they can get.

I disagree with this. I think one thing we've seen from Jones-coached teams is that they do not give up and fold. Also, I think last year's Vols were much like what we saw from VT at Bristol. The Vols would come out on an emotional high and come storming out of the gate - see UO; see UF; see Ark - but not be able to sustain that high for 4 qtrs., and let those games slip away. That is what happened to VT last Saturday. And once the Hokies made a mistake it began to compound on them. And a more mature, experienced UT team took a less emotionally-charged approach and when VT's adrenaline-rush began to fade, the Vols' talent and experience took over.
