Right now, I am not worried about the BCS rankings because the Gators control their own destiny. Win from here and win the SECCG, and Florida has a BCS birth.

But you know who is in the theoretical catbird seat?

The Univeristy of Tennessee.

Picture this: At season's end, three SEC teams are 11-1:

UF, Auburn, and UT.

UF and Auburn have to play each other in the title game, with the winner going to the BCS for sure. And there's UT, not having to play in the death match, waiting to leap-frog the unfortunate loser of the title game in the BCS standings. UT, ironically, might be sitting there essentially guaranteed an at-large spot in the BCS come the SECCG precisely because UT doesn't have to play in the title game.

That would piss me off.

Even worse is the scenario tvolsfan brought up in another thread.

Tennessee wins out 11-1.
Auburn wins out, 11-1.
Arkansas only loses to Tennessee and represents the West 10-2.
Florida wins out and represents the East at 11-1.

Regardless who wins the SEC CG, the way the rankings are now, an 11-1 Tennessee would be left out of the BCS and if Arkansas won the SEC CG and the Capitol One took the usual pick of the SEC CG loser, Tennessee slips all the way to the Outback Bowl at 11-1.

THAT would suck!

All the arguing and whining and all the breath we waist could all be fixed by one little word. Playoff.

Wow. What a concept that would be.

D-1 college football is the only NCAA sanctioned sport that doesnt use a playoff. Couldnt they make tons more money??

Same scenario is possible if all three are 10-2.

How about this: Florida wins out except for FSU. But then beats Auburn. Florida 11-2 is in the BCS. Auburn is 11-2 and UT is 11-1. UT leapfrogs Auburn?

Tennessee would only have one loss, and Auburn would have just lost, what's so unfair about Tennessee getting the at-large over Auburn?

Auburn probably has the easiest path to 11-1.

Tulane, @Ole Miss, Arkansas St., Georgia, @ Alabama

Tennessee has:

Alabama, @ South Carolina, LSU, @ Arkansas, @ Vandy, Kentucky

Florida has:

Georgia, @ Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Western Carolina, @ FSU

Considering last year, just going to the Outback Bowl this year would be awesome for me. I remember last year before the first game a lot of talk was going around about a National Championship. Toward the end of the season some of us were willing to sell our souls for a shot at even the Continental Tire Bowl!:yes:

Would love a BCS bid but first we gotta win out and that ain't gonna be no duckwalk!

No, I did not. I respect Auburn's team this year. But UGA, SC, and Vandy are mediocre, at best. And no way with what's on the line Meyer lets the Gators come out flat in any of those games.

Not for Florida. We've got five: UGA, West Carolina, Vandy, SC, and FSU.

Florida will be favored in all five and really ought to win all five.

I hate to say it, but UF is probably winning out in the reg. season.

We can still have a great year, but I'm afraid the SEC c-ship goes on hold another year at least.

You know what would be funny (sorry lawgator)... if West Carolina played an actually played a close game against UF, for a half anyways.
