...and how long as the NEA been around?

I don't think they're currently the ones out there championing our current education system as being top-notch unlike the proponents of NCLB. This plan has FAR more effect on these in the picture than the NEA.

We will never dig out of the hole that the NEA has gotten us into.

Nope. We're just pulling a Bob Murray and digging deeper holes in other areas that yield even fewer positive results....

Standardized testing will lead to the end of civilization as we know it. There is enough blame to go around.

We are becoming a dumber society because the philosophy of "If some kid can't pass then the test is too hard" That's bullbleep. Some kids just don't give a rat's nads about whether they make grades or not. We have created a way of life that centers around laziness and expecting handouts from the government. Discipline in the home and in the school is forbidden because it may "emotionally damage the child and cripple his creativity" More bullbleep. Kids are running the country folks because somebody thought it was a harmful thing to bust a kid's butt for doing things he shouldn't do. There is a HUGE difference between a spanking and a beating. I have had both and deserved both more times than I got them. My kids have all had their butts spanked. Not that they are perfect kids, quite the contrary. But they know that there are consequences for their actions.
