Maybe the poster was referring to picking up a 3* vs a big name starter.... maybe. Or it's possible he's uninformed

Hoover gets it. That 1 mil ain’t worth getting exposed in a system you don’t know and falling way out down in the draft.

The difference between a qb with talent and a brain can one with just talent and height

Look at it from the players viewpoint and put yourself in their shoes.

Would you quit a pretty good job WITHOUT having something else lined up that was better?

Everyone in the country knows UT is looking for a QB and everyone, except you apparently, knows how the game is played. (I'll add Nico's family to that also as he apparently quit a good job without having something lined up.)

Poaching is common, both for eggs and players.

We so well recruiting QBs although several have never lived up to hype. Our issue seems to be recruiting WRs.

Yep.

Jake and Gmac were BOTH Elite 11 QBs their senior years, just like Nico. Top 11 QBs in their classes. Jake could have gone anywhere he wanted to...AND was hand picked by CJH.

Jake has a whole RS year in the program just like Nico had before last season. IF Jake stays healthy he will be our starter from Day1 IMO and will put up at least slightly better numbers than Nicos 19TDs and 5INTs. Jake can run too...hes a legit threat as a dual threat QB.

If true, why wasn't Jake beating out Nico for the job? Do you think Josh Heupel is so weak that he wouldn't have been going to play his best QB in 2025 because of NIL or hype?

Screw it....play them both from the get-go..ala grosman/palmer. Get it over with. Don't bring in another QB. Screw it...it will pay dividends.

If CJH had not attempted to go for the gusto, there would be posters on here belittling the program for not trying hard enough. Nico gave us an opportunity to improve, or at least try to. Now, we settle for a place filler and play with what we have.
