everyone who thought Florida didn't let off the gas against us, go back and look at their offensive performances and play selection against LSU and UGA. Had they chosen to, they could have scored 60 against us.

They didnt have that package in place for our game so I beg to differ. However if the game was replayed it would in fact be the same story with a higher score for the team that is not us

For whatever reason florida played conservative in that game. The game was essentially over in the first quarter. They knew our pedestrian offense wasn't going to score many points on them. Urban showed phil some respect for whatever reason and saved him a really bad azz kicking.

South Carolina could have put over 40 points up tonight, but Spurrier uncharacteristically called off the dogs.

hat, are you implying that the SEC coaches are trying to keep Fulmer as coach of the Vols?

No, I'm just making fun of the people who came on here after the Florida game and acted like we were a couple of plays from making it a competitive game.

Going out on a limb here but maybe Meyer thought that if he could keep the game to a "respectable" loss for Fulmer, then maybe Phil could keep his job and Urban would have a clear advantage over the Vols every year.

I'm on a branch of that limb already, but I think it unlikely.

I think Fulmer knew he was gonna get his salad tossed. So, he went to Urban Meyer before the game, and told him not to run it up too much if it got really bad.

The Florida game was not ever really competitive, but they couldn't have hung 60 on us. They are a different team in the second half of the season than they were when they faced Da U or us. Ole Miss woke them up.

Anyone seeing a trend of teams not totally whipping our ass as far as the score goes relative to what it should have been. I smell collusion.

Let's not discredit our defense so much, they have kept us in the game for at least the first half.

The only game of the year that Florida backs off? Yeah, I think Urban was trying to do his part to keep his favorite punching bag around.

UF didn't score 60 on UT because they couldn't. To draw make a retrospective linear comparison of performances between games is just plain bad logic. Especially pointing to the UF-UGA game and not considering the UF-UM game.

But UT was never close to making the game competitive regardless of how many points UF scored.

Somewhat yes. But it does raise an intresting question as to why Meyer didn't put 60 on us.

Well, mercy didn't have anything to do with it. The man really doesn't seem to know what "letting up" means. I think the problem with "letting off the gas" implies that Florida quit for some altruistic reason; they didn't. They had an offense that hadn't quite found its stride, and they knew very early that they could not lose if they shortened the game. So they shortened the game.

Spurrier did the same thing last night with an offense that is about 1/783 as good and with a 2 TD lead.

I don't think they are as interested in us any longer since our program is down. It like a cat playing with a dead mouse vs a live one. One presents a challenge, the other, not so much.

From what I have seen with Meyer, he wouldn't let off the gas against his own mother.

UF's offense right now isn't the same as it was 6 weeks ago. They really found their rhythm and a new wrinkle (Demps & Rainey) in their offense during the fourth quarter of the Arkansas game. I don't think Florida would've put up 60 points on our pretty good defense back then. That being said, we were no where near a couple of plays away from making it a close game.
