Doing a lot better than the local media predicted. The local talk heads I listen to were predicting anywhere between 10-15 wins for the season. One went as high as 18 wins.

Jazz travel to Indy tonight.

Pacers are 6-2 at home and the Jazz are 2-6 on the road. Hopefully that trend continues... for my sake anyways. Also, the Pacers haven't lost back to back games this season and they just lost to Orlando in their last game. Hopefully that trend continues as well.

Just saw the Jazz's record, what happened? At one point they were 9-4. They're 4-6 since. With both teams coming off losses, this should be a good one. Both could use a win.

I guess? lol

You could say the same about the Pacers though. I think I've seen like two other people on this site sporting a Pacers logo. I'm assuming I'm one of the few people outside of Indiana that's a Pacers fan. They struggle to sell tickets sometimes, so... that kind of shows you how many fans they have. Even people in Indiana aren't fans.

Al Jefferson...that's what happened to our 9-4 record. He's one of the least efficient scorers on the team and he takes the most shots. A 5 who can't even shoot 48% from the field?!!

Yeah, I'd like to see them swing Jefferson for a PG. They really need someone to run an offense through, and Jefferson, while good, is expendable to open up minutes for Kanter and Favors. Overall though, they've done a pretty good job. A core of Millsap, Favors, Burks, Kanter, and Hayward isn't bad. Maybe not elite though, but that's hard in a market like Utah.

Milsap is excellent but he's pulling away in age. The other ones, while not elite, very young. It's too early to tell what you have on your hands with that core. You could have a monster brewing if all pan out. Problem is, they have to pan out. If I were the Jazz, I'd contemplate moving Jefferson, Milsap and Devin Harris for picks, capspace and like you said, a point guard. Get a young point guard with that group and give them playing time. Then draft players with them along the way. Although, it might be too early to blow it up since they are still above .500. It might not be a bad thing getting those young guys more playing time though because they could be elite later. NBA is the one sport where it's easier to throw them into the fire earlier and the playing time actually helps. You don't need to sit on the bench like in the NFL or go through the minor leagues like MLB.

And Burks, Hayward, Kanter and Favors are like 20-23 years old? By the time they're 23-27, Milsap is 31. Isn't Burks 19? Milsap is good but he isn't a star. By the time these guys are mature enough to contribute, Milsap will be old. They will all need new contracts too if you want to keep them together. I'd trade Milsap because the Jazz aren't winning the championship in the next couple years and it will be a few years by the time those guys are even 25 and 26 years old.

Jazz have two options. Trade the older guys and build around the younger guys or trade the younger guys to build around the older guys. What they have now is a cluster f in my opinion. They're winning games, losing draft position while also limiting their young guys development by keeping them on the bench. I guess it's personal preference but they need to pick which way they go now with all their assets. It doesn't make sense to stunt young players development or let the quality older players value go to waste. You need to put more vets around them or trade the vets and put more young guys around them. This obviously isn't a championship team so why keep the old guys for 5 more years before the young guys are in their prime. Doesn't make a lot of sense imo.

I think Millsap is very undervalued, and teams that don't hang onto guys like that are doomed. There aren't too many guys you can get to give you 16 and 9 at a TS% of .610 for just $7 M/year*.

* Peers putting up around 16 and 9: Josh Smith = $12 M , Al Jefferson = $13 M, David Lee = $11 M, Carlos Boozer = $14 M, Bosh = $14 M, etc. and Millsap is out-shooting all of them.

Yeah, I like Millsap as well. I think he's a pretty efficient player (excluding last night) and not a liability on defense like Jefferson. He can also lead the team as the young guys grow into more prominent roles. Not everybody has the opportunity like the Thunder to build around a star. I'd rather keep at least one key veteran for leadership and to stay competitive. I think Millsap is great for that role.

Devin Harris is terrible, but he has no trade value. Al Jefferson does (I think). You might not get as much in return as you think he should, but I imagine teams would want him.

The Jazz need a PG to run the offense through though because the young guys aren't going to be able to develop offensively without a true PG. Without one, you have Hayward, Burks, Kanter, and Favors trying to create on their own, which they can't do.

I think they are doing a good job rebuilding. Just need one more piece.

The Jazz are where the Rockets are, stuck in neutral. Just on the outside looking in but too far down in the lottery. I agree with a poster above that the Jazz need to rebuild right now instead of trying to compete for an 8th seed, and then get swept in the playoffs. Blow up the team and rebuild, along with the young guys they have right now.

I don't really understand why a Jazz fan who lives in Utah can't get their games on DirecTV. I can't even get big games like Jazz/Heat, unless it's on ESPN. This is the world we live in.
