Seeing as there are a plentiful supply of negavols here, I suppose I shall start a thread that supports Derek Dooley.
Now, why do I support Derek Dooley?
1. He has had 4 games to "rebuild" Tennessee Football. In football "rebuilding" years, this is virtually nothing. Would we immediately judge Phillip Fulmer or Johnny Majors as a failure if they started 2-2 back when they were coaches? Of course not. Its only because we have fallen so far since the late 90's that we are beginning to panic and scramble around madly calling for the head of every coach who doesn't deliver instant success.
2. Character. Its something Mr. K didn't have. Its something that builds a strong foundation for a Football Program. It keeps the NCAA from sniffing around for violations...why? because there aren't any violations to be found. Derek Dooley has character.
3. Work ethic. Its hard to come by in today's recipe for Instant Success College Football. Derek Dooley has work ethic. He didn't accept this job because it was easy. (Think about it, Tennessee was in a fiery fury from the departure of K-fail and coming off a so-so season under a coach who had faithfully served the University for years who had just resigned). Give Dooley credit for not backing down from a challenge.
I could go on, but I think you all can fill in the rest. I support Derek Dooley. Go Vols.
