72, hopefully you are just taking a break my esteemed colleague...like many here before you...but if somehow you actually don't come back, know that it has been a pleasure to "talk" and exchange ideas with you. Glad to meet you bro, and I would think that many if not all of the sane folks around here would feel the same.

Personally, I don't know when the last time I posted was, but it has been a week at least IIRC and even then the already few ( but admittedly quite long) posts from me had greatly decreased. As I have watched this country go completely bat sheit crazy, with what I believe to be a fraudulent election in many swing states , among other complete insanity, and allowing the leftist morons seize complete control of our country....

See? That run-on sentence became a paragraph just trying to even begin to describe a very small portion of all the insanity ...and I never even finished it because it is just dumbfounding, Orwell 1984, surreal what has happened to the America I grew up in.... as I have watched that USA die right in front of us, never to return....I have seen that the fix is in, nearly all or all national level politicians are crooked as Hell and will do absolutely nothing to serve the folk who elected them, restore our faith in elections by doing a complete reboot and taking the very basic measures necessary to make sure that only legal, registered voters are the ONLY folk who get to vote... won't ever stop spending us into complete bankruptcy..the list is endless so I digress.

Anyway, as I have seen all of this terrible garbage happen that seemed completely impossible just 6 months ago, I have engaged far too many insane socialists who post here in an angry way that doesn't represent me or my values.. I do not like the way I allowed the feeble minded to bait me into acting as foolish as them. When they post leftist crap that is completely opposite of what our framers intended as well as crap that both my grandfather and Dad spent most of their lives fighting against in the Cold War...I have allowed their ignorance, their Socialist/Communist beliefs and rhetoric, disrespectful words from small minded men to make me bitter, sometimes angry,

My desire to post here has waned. I am still trying to catch up to current in the thread about what happened at the Capitol bldg, have not touched any of the threads newer than it etc...and I catch myself wanting to reach through my phone and choke the sheit out of these clowns...and thats why I just simply do not post and even engage and attempt to have a rational conversation with increasingly irrational folks , Liars and fools...I just do not have it in me to waste my time and effort trying to teach the willfully ignorant the truth ....I just don't have the fight in me right now.

I love VN though, I have been here for years ...and I refuse to allow the idiots that invaded this once somewhat sane forum to keep me away from a place that I have long since met some great dudes and made some good friends, and even with the struggles and bullcrap the football team is in.... I still feel at home here and will continue to come here to keep up with my lifelong favorite sports team regardless of what else happens

Take a break and lurk for a bit when you feel like it, and then see how you feel about our favorite hangout then. I have always been a lurker at heart so for me it comes naturally to be silent and just take it easy. Hopefully it helps you as well. ...we sane folks need to stick together and continue to prepare for what is to come. Go Vols

My apologies. While your beliefs and mine are far different, and the point of my post wasn't politics but rather an attempt to thank, sympathize with, and communicate with a friend....you are 1 of if not THE most reasonable of the liberal posters here when it comes to trying to be civil etc. I mean you no disrespect nor harm.

Insults are both welcome and expected here in this thread BTW...though usually in jest. Trying to and failing to steer as clear as possible from politics...in a politics forum...while talking to a friend about his decision to leave due to....politics.....was my only failure here. I do apologize to any offended though.

Edit ...I really don't see another way either. Should I have quoted his post, from this thread, then replied in a different thread? Hoping that a guy who may never even come back and see those posts here might see them elsewhere? That seems dumb. Also something posters never do in my experience....switch threads to reply...I dunno. If I had his number I would just call 72, but unlike several other posters here, I do not. He's a good guy and if he stays gone then I will miss his company, insight and knowledge. Go Vols.

Alright Luth. Enough of the Southern Pie thing. It makes you seem like a decent guy. How bout buttermilk pie. I thought pecan and chess were the bomb all my life. Then I had a buttermilk pie. Not to mention being treated to the Cuban Tres Leche recently.

I love Tres Leche and will add buttermilk pie to my must try list.
My mom has a chess pie recipe that she got from her aunt (don't know if it goes back further). My wife and daughters all now use the same recipe. I guess the recipe would have to be close to 100 years old now.

Now back to things much more divisive.

Yes, you should jump on a trial of buttermilk pie. The name is misleading. It's a sweet pie like chess.
