“Top this.”

That was a good one.

In 1997 Peerless Price went for 110 yards and 1 TD on 6 catches in the win over North Western.

I couldn’t top your’s, but it is fun trying.

I was there in the old upper deck student section. It was glorious, the Vols defeating Auburn early in the season. Fans were hopeful. Tennessee would defeat LSU before getting hammered by Bama in Birmingham, then would come the debacle and shame of North Texas. The Vols would lose their final home game to Vandy. I don't remember how many moving vans were sent to Bill Battle's home over the course of the season, but I think it was three or more.

107 days........

On November 30, 1991, Tennessee had three players with over 100 yrds rushing. James Stewart(145), Aaron Hayden(112), and Mose Phillips with 107 Yrds. On the receiving end, Craig Faulkner had 8 receptions for 107 yrds and a TD. The Vols set a record with 606 yrds of offense in the 45-0 victory over Vandy!

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE VOL!
On September 29, 1979, Jimmy Streater was 12-20 for 152 yrds passing and a TD. But my favorite part of being in the stands for that game was watching the “Sylva Streak” run for 106 yrds and 2TDs, in the Vols 35-17 victory over Auburn. A then Neyland Stadium record crowd of 85,936 saw Streater dismantle the Tigers.

From 1964-1977, Smokey III roamed the sideline of Tennessee football games. He was the longest tenured blue tick mascot in Vols history. Smokey III compiled a record of 105-39-5 with 2 SEC Championships ( a winning percentage of .729,)

The 1905 Tennessee Vols went winless in the SIAA, but will always be remembered for one specific game. On October 7, 1905, the Vols defeated American Temperance University by the score of 104-0......the largest margin of victory in Vols history. Sam Parker and Roscoe “Piggy” Word were two stars for the Vols. ATU was founded in 1893 in Harriman, TN and closed in 1908.

On September 16, 1972, the Vols played #6 Penn St in the first night game in Tennessee history. Under the lights, a record crowd of over 72,000 watched Haskel Stanback rush for 101 yrds and 3TDs in a 28-21 victory. Joe Paterno had threatened to get out of the game if it were played in the mid day heat of September.......enter night games in Neyland.B1CB750C-5472-4ABB-8218-6DE24B04A5AE.png48AFF2F3-5401-4195-B6BC-F29AAA40AC55.png463E72FD-2E59-473B-8168-0D0039A6A280.png
