We are on the same page. Once it’s the 30th the countdown will be hours until game day.

Thanks for such great countdown stats.
Agreed. I prefer this method of counting. All other fan pages and whatnot are a day behind this, but my thoughts are it’s not going to be 8PM Friday night and I’m going “only 1 more day until Gameday”

August 30th is day 0. There are no more days left between us and kickoff.

25 days.....

On October 5, 2002, Arkansas visited Neyland and the #10 Vols. The score was tied 17-17 at the end of regulation. The first two OT’s ended with field goals by both teams. In the third OT both teams went scoreless. The teams traded touchdowns in the fourth and fifth OT’s. In the sixth extra period, Arkansas took the lead with a field goal. On the Vols first play from scrimmage, Casey Clausen hit Jason Witten on a 25 yard touchdown to give Tennessee a 41-38 victory.

When I was in the army, we would say "30 days and a wake-up!"

24 days.........

From 1997-2000, Cedrick Wilson had 2,137 yards receiving and 159 receptions. His two SEC Championships, a National Championship, and 24 touchdown catches (2nd all-time) make Wilson a Vol icon. He also is one of a handful to win championship rings in High School, college, and the NFL.

Halloween, 1998, Tennessee traveled to South Carolina. The Vols easily won the game 49-14 enroute to the National Championship. What makes this game so special was Tee Martin’s then NCAA record of consecutive pass completions. Tee completed his first 23 passes ( 23-24 ) for 315 yards and 4TDs. It was Martin’s first 300 yard game. Going back to the previous game vs Alabama, Tee completed 24 in a row.

During his years in Knoxville, Stanley Morgan was a big play waiting to happen. He rushed for 1,952 yrds and had 1,075 receiving yrds, and 36 TDs from 1973-1976. He was primarily a running back during his time at UT except for his freshman year. In 1973, he led the Vols with 511 yrds and 4TDs on 22 receptions.

From the Tennessee Hall of Fame:

He was a consensus All-America in 1975 and 1976. More than 30 years later, he still ranks 10th in the Vol’s record books. His career totals were 117 catches for 1924 yard and a 16.4 per catch average.

Those who remember him know that if he could touch it, he could catch it. He caught winning TD passes from Randy Wallace in the 1974 Liberty Bowl and against Maryland and against Auburn in 1975. He made several acrobatic catches during his career that none, maybe more special than against Clemson in 1974 as the Vol’s won 29-28.

Larry still lives in the Knoxville with his wife of 28 years, Sally. They have two grown children, a daughter Jennifer Seivers Nash, and a son, Charlie.

Indeed, I was at the Liberty Bowl when Larry Seivers made the leaping catch in the end zone, what a catch it was, the game winner!
It was colder than **ll in Memphis for the Liberty Bowl that year....

Hal Wantland played at Tennessee from 1963-1965. Hal had three different Head Coaches and three different positions during his time in Knoxville. As a single wing qb he had 21 career competitions. As a receiver, Wantland had 21 receptions in both1964 and 1965 and as a half-back he had 446 yrds career rushing yrds. He finished his career with 1,035 yrds and 12 TDs. Wantland was a captain of the ‘65 team that finished 8-1-2.
