I'm starting to lean that it was somehow both the Providence and how the seeding/process rules were aligned.

Providence also played Xavier twice. Providence bumps ahead slightly because of that. Then you have Xavier and TN...but they can't play each other.

So you have to determine who plays both Xavier and TN. You either Make them a solid "IN" or move the teams around so they are a "play-in" team.

It was the same situation like Iowa and Nebraska. They can't play each other. ...but Iowa played Xavier already. That forces Nebraska by themselves.

You end up with TN, Xavier, Iowa, and a wildcard who has not played 2/3 of those teams. Thought in NCST and bingo! You have your matchups.
