My inlaws are from WV and act like they know things about football....God I hope we play/beat WVU. I'd take 5 more losses to UF if we could win that game. I've grown to hate WVU.

A win over anyone is not worth a loss to Florida. Ever.

Do we know what time this will officially be announced? I know the CFP selection is today at 12:30ET, but will that be the bowl announcement show too?

I usually hope for the best matchup but this year I'm leaning towards us getting the easiest matchup. We're 6-6 and haven't been to a bowl in several years. Haven't won one in more years than that. We need a win more than a matchup vs big name, higher ranked opponent.

UT will not be in the Music City Bowl in Nashville. Also he stated that the city needs a big hotel dollars revenue. UT will not provide that like an out of state team would.
They said the same thing in 2012 when Vandy went to MCB.

Everything seems aligned for the Liberty. Liberty submitted three picks and we were #1. We submitted three picks and Liberty was #2. If the MCB put us #4, we're most likely headed to the Liberty to play WVU (since we've already played Okla this year).

What was UT's first and third choice?

I wouldn't even take 5 losses to UF in exchange for one win vs UF

Seating capacity....Liberty 59,000....MCB 69,000...Belk 79,000.
I choose Belk for that reason, then MCB. Liberty is last choice, not much in way of stadium atmosphere from a stadium that was built in 1965.

I choose Belk because we don't have a Dillard's where I live.

UT will not be in the Music City Bowl in Nashville. I have heard two radio interviews with the MCB Director here in Nashville over the past few weeks. In the first one he stated that ticket prices have gone up drasticly in order to have a bigger payout. Also said that they were trying to move up a few tiers as a bowl game. Third, he stated that they are looking at 7-8 win teams. Just a few days ago in a second interview, he was talking about the selection process. Everything is submitted to the SEC office now. The MCB Director said, "our first choice is LSU, next is Texas A&M, and UT was 4th on the list." Also he stated that the city needs a big hotel dollars revenue. UT will not provide that like an out of state team would.

not every bowl can have a 7/8 win team from the SEC.
... Especially if the New Years 6 takes 3 teams from the conference. That just leaves LSU Tam Auburn and Georgia to fill 6 bowls. Guarantee the Gator and Outback WILL get
teams they want and they ain't wanting 6-6 teams.

They said the same thing in 2012 when Vandy went to MCB.

Again the bowl situations are different this year with this new playoff system. The MCB is trying to step up into a major bowl status. One of the things that they had to do was to raise the payout to the competing teams. They have done that for this year.(Just look at the ticket prices on the MCB site). I paid $45 each in 2010 for club level seats, this year they are $199-$225 each in the same section I sat in in 2010. Per the interview they said the bowls send their top choices to the schools confrence office and then they suggest who goes to the bowls. If someone else has heard anything else about the new system please share what you heard.
The bowl makeup and selection process is now different than it was in 2012. I'm not trying to down our guys, but I am just passing along what I have heard and also read in emails that I receive from the MCB.Since I have bought bowl tickets the past few years I get emails with bowl info and discount offers to buy now.

I would much rather make a 30 minute drive to see UT in a bowl game versus a 4 hour drive to Memphis. But again I am just passing along what I have heard on local sports talk radio from the MCB Director. I would assume that they are in talks with the SEC office about who they can place from the SEC. Again I would LOVE for them to be here, but the MCB folks are aiming higher. We will see who they get.
