Offensive Line Situation, is Kiffin planning for the future?

Sabanocchio, whose that in your avatar, I asked this in another thread, but can't remember which one. I was guessing Bryce Brown, but I don't really know what he looks like.

I answered you in the other thread. You guessed correctly though. It's my own work on a pic of Bryce Brown. I made many of the signatures and avatars you'll see scattered around here.

I know two that would be resigns, Devonta Bolton and Brandon Lewis, neither are linemanand Timothy Graham who have been offered scholarships from JuCo. I believe Lewis has verballed but Bolton is taking this year off from football to work on his academic eligibility. James Carpenter is the only offensive lineman that I know of yet he was recruited in and signed this year.

Cool, and thanks for the response, both of them that is.

Everybody always says we live in the past, trying to not to do that so much.
But hey, if you wanna go back, we can always go way back. :)

True. UT and Bama have been at this game for quite a while.

UF is the Johnny come lately, but have they ever come... and will they ever go away?

Man, I'm not knocking your D, cause they are very good. But they'll just get worn out by the third quarter if you're offense doesn't produce a lot better than last year. Remember the Bama game, it was close the first half, then we just ran away with it in the second. It's cause your D was flat out exhausted cause they'd been on the field the whole game.

Nah - you guys didn't run away with it in the second half. You built a slow, steady lead that just grew and grew due to the fact we didn't score. There was no 29 point 3rd quarter or anything. The defense still stood strong - but there's only so much you can do with bad field position.

If our defense can endure last years offense - then we'll be fine this year.

You forgot OC Brown, and Coach Orgeron was down ib Memphis yesterday making his rounds. I bet a dollar to a dough nut that he saw Maclin, Brown, and paid visits to a couple more schools.

Bama has some problems of their own to worry about. I think that Tennessee and Bama will be very similar this year.

Bama won last year because they were able to throw the ball on first down. It set their whole running game up. With the loss of Wilson at QB it is going to be alot harder. If you watched any of Bama spring game I think even Bama fans would say there isn't near the talent at QB. IMO that is why Saban is really going hard after these QB's he has commits from. They will be solid on Defense but you have to be able to throw the football to win in this conference and I think Bama will struggle with their passing game. So in turn other D's will load up to stop the run.

Also I am not flaming but the NCAA is going to come down hard on Bama. There are going to be some major penalties IMO. It doesn't look good and I don't think all these early commits are going to stick.

I think Tennessee will struggle at times this year. But I think there will be marked improvement. You win in this league by playing physical. Bama proved that last year. I think this UT team will be a lot tougher and will make fewer mistakes. In turn I think it will get us a few more wins. But depth is a major concern and injuries could really hurt this team. But all in all I think in time you will see us back were we normally have been and that is at the top of the conference.

A few key injuries on our squad and our season could end up like 2005. But a few key wins and our season could end up like 1998!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can always hope!

You are right, Even if we have the #1 recruiting class next year they will still be freshmen the next year. We are 2 or 3 years from being a very good team. I hope this coaching staff stays together that long!

The JC route for lineman may be the way to go. I just don't see a viable alternative.

a good qb, for that matter good rbs and wrs are nothing without a solid o line. A bad oline will make good skill players useless

that is why this new 'system' will be more important asthe offense this year sports a marginal quarterback and marginal offensive line talent. At least in the Clawfense. If this system is much easier to scheme block in, then the line can be much better than last year. As for the QB, this is a huge ?.

I really suspect that our staff has completely overlooked the O Line.

Haunts me in my sleep at night - I keep having this same dream... over and over. It always ends with matts42012volfan starting as our left tackle in the 2010 season. What a nightmare.
