I have heard for the past two seasons how we have a stud offensive line..........explain why we cant ever rush in the SEC? If I hear 8 man in the box as an excuse I might laugh...we run a spread style offense there is plenty of space. We should be able to lean on these guys and get 3-4 yards a play........really not reaching their potential. Alot of starts doesnt mean they are the top OL in the league. New QB shouldnt matter......I am talking handing the ball off...4-1, 3-1 I actually cringe where I should be like this is not problem. Overall I am happy with the progress our team is making, but I am very dissappointed in the OL play I expected much more. :loco:

The scheme minimizes their talent. They are not firing off the ball because that is not our system. Bajakian to blame.

That is a good portion of the issue.

Given the surrounding talent it is way too easy to make them one dimensional now.

why cant we get the third and short yards? thats when we tighten it up

Keep in mind, the Gators D-Line is legit. NFL O-Lines struggle to move the pile when the D knows that an inside run is coming.

To me, O-Line is the least of our worries. Peterman stepped INTO pressure a couple of times.

this group has never been as good at run blocking as they have at pass protection - now you are seeing defenses that have no fear of our receivers/QB play and so they are getting much more pressure

that being said i agree that to date they have underperformed I think every reasonable fans expectations

I agree pass protection is good with this group, but we can't run block at all. I know we play some stout defenses, but if everyone is talking them up we should be able to get 4 yards a pop.

I would take 3 yards....I remember the days of run run and more run...power football 7 and 8 minute drives...our defense would love that kind of break. Fans would hate it...but TOP is killing us right now...the way the media was talking about this line they should be able to part the Red Sea....they can't because they have for the most part have been pass blocking.....

What is really going on is, the O line is hampered by the 3 technique that is being employed by most D lines that we have seen so far. So with that being said the Guards have to release with a 2 undercut technique while pushing the D line to a Gap, or the 3-4 gap depending on the play..for example if the backs are in a read option and go for the 2A gap, then the line must shift right and use the 2 technique in order to counter the 3 technique and force a shift in equilibrium and then open the hole to the next level. Why can't they do that..well it has to do with how they fire off the ball while down in a 3 point stance. The flanking moves are being put down by the picket fence formation. So we have a lot to work on in order for our back to be able to get up-field in a fashion worthy of Volnation..

Yeah but.... they didn't move when they thought the other team was offsides. I thought that was what made them good.

Of course, that was the play where Peterson broke his thumb and he threw the interception on the next play. But it still shows how awesome they are right?

Maybe next time they will just block and let the refs make the call.

No team we play is scared of us throwing the ball... in fact they want us to. So yes they are loading the box. Laugh if you want but its just the truth.

Different schemes every year. Take the starting 5 and put them at UGA with Todd Gurley and they perform, put them at Bama with Yeldon and they perform, put them in SC with Davis and they perform.

You cannot change the offense every year and expect results.
