With the loss of Ligon and All American Sears, who do you think steps up on the OL? Any youngsters? Also, do we improve in run blocking this year? Lets hear your thoughts. This is my first thread so make it worth it, lol.

We are good. I would say this is one of the last places you should worry about. We got some talented young kids would step up.

Most coaches put their best guard and tackle on the left side to protect the QB blind side. So IMO UT lost their best guard and tackle. I know McClendon was highly recruited and played a lot last year. A lot of opportunities for a freshmen.

Rumor was Adkins is changing the blocking scheme to zone blocking. Zone blocking uses more athletic ability and techniques instead of size and muscle. Cutcliffe and Fulmer put them all on a diet last year.

We have alot of young talent on the OL. My guess is that our starters are:

LT-Scott(RS SO)
LG-Young(SR)
C-McNeil(RS SO)
RG-McLendon(TR SO)
RT-Johnson(RS FR)

Our key backups will be:
Parker(RS JR)
Foster(RS JR)
Richard(RS SO)
Frogg(SR)

A lot of schools are switching to zone blocking. My only issue with it is it forces you to make more reads and cuts as a running back and not so much running straight up the hole. And people ask why Foster struggled so much last year...

Hold up, I thought we were already doing the zone blocking thing and had decided not to do it again. I cant remember where I had heard that so someone correct me if I am wrong.

For people worried about our talent on OL, that starting lineup would be composed of 5 players that were all highly rated 4-stars by rivals.
