I actually think our offense will be better than everyone thinks and our defense will be a little worse than last year. We will beat a few that we are not supposed to and lose to a few that we shouldn't lose to.

Way to go out on a limb with this thread.

You may actually be trying...we shall see.

It's hard to beat a defense that was #3 in the country so yea, I agree. However, I'm sure our D will be just as fierce again in 09.

I think that our D will struggle some with scheme and some with personnel. Our offense will be decent if our O-Line improves and stays away from the injury bug.

Keep an eye out for Brandon Warren in this offense. I think he will have a breakout year.

Our D was REALLY good last year. Chief will have the LSU defense at the top within the next couple of years. He's very underrated.

Can't wait to see how they do on third and long as well as when he employs the mustang package.

This year's defense will give up more yardage than last year's, but will make up for it by forcing more turnovers and being better on 3rd down.

You're right....Chavis was as good a defensive coordinator as there is....except for like on 3rd and 20+. He just couldn't scheme for 3rd and long. That's why they call it 3rd and Chavis.

Great way to disqualify the remainder of your gibberish.

Chief was not underrated. His defense was excellent on 1`st and 2`nd down and bad on 3`rd down. He could, would not recruit was the worst problem!!!

Volman 38,

I have enjoyed reading several of your posts over the last week as they have provided a good chuckle. However this one beats the cake. How can anyone with even a smidgen of football sense make a statement like this? Do you actually believe this garbage or are you just posting to become a guru.
Here is a simplistic version on why you’re wrong about the defense. First of all we return a majority of starters from the #3 ranked defense in the nation. Secondly (almost co-1st) we have an offense that can punch its way out of a wet paper bag. The fact we were even in the top 20 in defense last year is a miracle. In my humble opinion the Chief should have won the Nobel peace prize for his work saving what little season we had. If not for the defense we would have only had victories over UAB, Southern Illinois, and Mississippi St. Some people thought it was bad on the hill at 5-7. Try 3-9 on for size. The Chief probably saved someone’s life by having the defense play the way it did.

That was the most misleading #3 defense of all time!!! Look at the AWFUL offenses they played, puh-lease!!!!

Stats wise, it will be hard to have a defense that is as good as last year's.

However, if the D makes stops on 3rd down, I'll be happy
