Offense kicked our tails - CJP

The players are not recovering as fast as he needs them to recover.

He gave them 2 days off before the last practice and they did not get their juice back. Were not able to move at game speed.

They are over trained.

He needs to:

1) change to a soft in season training regimen.
2) stop working them 4 days before the last scrimmage through the orange and white game
3) switch to a base building program for the next 6 weeks save practice reps

Or do something.

The offensive players have run more in their lives and have a better endurance and recovery base.

I've read a lot of crazy stuff on here, but this goes way beyond D4H crazy.

I'm not even going to explain how, why, or how bad you are wrong because I highly doubt you will get it...just know you are incorrect from your first word to your last word.

Then he should say that...or ganja...or Mary Jane. Dazed and Confused was early 90’s. :cool2:

It is called bud, because it is the flower bud that is smoked, it is called that to differentiate between raw flower and concentrates.

For those old dudes unfamiliar with new terminology.

I’ll bow to your knowledge on this one latter day Cheech and Chong guru. :hi:

Do you have a source for that?

Here are a couple. The first is about results, read the first paragraph...

Mark Allen Interview: A look back at working with Phil Maffetone and what it means for today's triathlete. - Dr. Phil Maffetone

There is some stuff here at the end. Substitute "improving capillary density" for "aerobic base."

Joe Friel - Mark Allen’s Training

For a visual, think of chicken dinners. Chickens don't fly too much, but they walk around a lot. Building a base is turning white into dark by changing the capillary density. You have to farm capillaries, and encourage them. you can't throw acid all over them. Or maybe make blood pressure too high - they are baby capillaries after all.

Once the capillaries are there, the defensive players will respond the way Pruitt wants and expects them to.

Here is the important part of the narrative:
"I came from a swimming background, which in the 70s and 80s when I competed was a sport that lived by the No Pain, No Gain motto. My coach would give us workouts that were designed to push us to our limit every single day. I would go home dead, sleep as much as I could, then come back the next day for another round of punishing interval sets.
It was all I knew. So, when I entered the sport of triathlon in the early 1980s, my mentality was to go as hard as I could at some point in every single workout I did. And to gauge how fast that might have to be, I looked at how fast the best triathletes were running at the end of the short distance races. Guys like Dave Scott, Scott Tinley and Scott Molina were able to hold close to 5 minute miles for their 10ks after swimming and biking!
So thats what I did. Every run, even the slow ones, for at least one mile, I would try to get close to 5 minute pace. And it workedsort of. I had some good races the first year or two, but I also suffered from minor injuries and was always feeling one run away from being too burned out to want to continue with my training."

"One thing I did notice today was that we had a lot of guys that had two days off and did not respond the right way," Pruitt said. "We have to fix that….I wish we had 30 of them (spring practice) so we could, but we only get 15. I'm not sure everyone took advantage of their opportunities today. We will watch the tape and see if that's right or not."

Conjecture: They have a capillary density problem that the strength coach has not come to terms with.

He has never worked with athletes this soft. They don't have the capillary density to recover at the rate he has seen everywhere he has been. The kids coming out of high school are recovering faster than the team as a whole.

Really hard to put on muscle and fill them with capillaries at the same time - new capillaries are fragile as I understand it. Two days are not enough to recover when you have no base.

Capillary density == "heart"?

It would be great if fans could show up for orange and white game in full force , if for no other reason but to show those young men what a great fan base we really are. Tired of the comments of the fans being called “wackos” or other nonsense. Yes, we are passionate and care about our team, but we are no different than any other fans of other teams. Really, we’re not,
Exactly. Lets see Ohio State go winless in conference. ..or Georgia or Bama and watch how THOSE fanbases react.

I might be wrong here, but I think he is using what he says to the media as a modification tool to his defense. Hope I’m right here.

Stupid autocorrect, motivation instead of modification, please forgive the old woman that can’t half see.

I agree with this. Jeremy Pruitt, in the words of my beloved Mother-in-law (RIP), doesn't "tell all he knows" to the press. He'll use the opportunity to help the team the best he can. So many are running the offense down, maybe he was throwing them a bone. At any rate, forming an opinion of the the team's progress based on a coach's comment might be a letdown.

Combination of much lower back pressure and heart endurance.

I think what is happening is that the SC coach has always worked with people with years of sport specific endurance. Kids doing sports at Harvard have been doing them since they were 12. A lot of capillaries. Fast recovery.

I understand this program ran with no head SC coach for a while. Speculating that endurance foundation cracked from neglect.

Likely the hardest problem Jeremy and team have to solve. Increasing work volume and shortening recovery times.
