Depends on what you want and what you expect. You literally can go from a $600 TCL to spending thousands.

rtings.com is my preferred site for TV reviews. You can search by size and preferred usage (movies, gaming, pc monitor, sports, etc.) They also have calibration settings for almost every TV they review.

Personally, I love my LG OLEDs. I've got a 3-4 year old C-Series 65" in the living room and a 2020 CX 48" as my computer monitor. Wouldn't trade them for anything else on the market right now.

TCL’s are great value for the $$. Got a 65” for $399 on Black Friday the year before last.

Probably worth looking into the tv operating system as the supported apps differ by manufacturer. My LG is good as a tv and I'm fine with how the webOS works as a UI but there are some apps that are not carried on it, like mlb.tv for example, and HBOmax only showed up last week. My wife watches Brit shows and can get Britbox on the tv but not Acorn (we use Roku for the apps that the tv doesn't get).

Also, pay attention to casting/mirroring capabilities. My tv is a 2018 model and LG didn't start supporting AirPlay 2 till some of the 2019 models (again, Roku to the rescue).

Honestly, I'd much rather be able to just buy a dumb tv and use the Roku, but the market isn't geared for that. Yeah, no one says you have to use the smart tv capabilities but it still kinda would get in the way a bit.
