The cover is off too... now you know that Great Value is the same as Peter Pan branded peanut butter. I'm a JIF guy myself.

I get the fresh peanut butter that they grind in those machines at the health food store. YUM!

The only way to go, IMO.

Good news: no deaths to date. Salmonella is not usually a fatal illness, although more dangerous to the elderly, very young children, and people with immune deficiencies. Interesting that the strain responsible is named "S. Tennessee" (whoo-hoo).

You know, when I first saw the Salmonella Tennessee thing I read the article really closely looking for some kind of punch line.

Peter Pan creamy still rules, BTW.

S. Tennessee was also responsible for the powdered milk and baby formula outbreak a few years back, if I remember correctly. That one started because a truck had carried egg product previously and wasn't cleaned properly between shipments.

I was just talking to my mom, she is a secretary at an elem. school, and she said that the principal has been complaining about fever, fatigue, upset stomach, etc. and when all this info came out she checked her peanut butter and she has the "bad" peanut butter. She called her doctor today to tell them about her symptoms and that she had the bad PB and they said the wanted to see her ASAP.

Yeah, but remember that there is a heckuva lot of the "stomach virus" going around right now, too. People needn't get too antsy.

You know, after my previous reply I went and checked the pantry. We have a jar with this 2111 code that is 3/4 of the way empty. :eek:hmy:

I listen to Mike and Mike in the morning on my way to work. Mike Golic has been out the last couple of days and this morning they said that he has Salmonella related to this.
