Like most of you, I guess, after every UT game, I slice and dice them to death.
I will look at coaching decisions and player usage, etc. until I can make some evaluations.

But, this game was very difficult to do so,
We had so many people out.
And, so many of our most talented out.
Injuries are often used as an EXCUSE.
This time, I think they are a legitimate REASON.

Now, ask me again about our poor efforts earlier in the year when we near full strength and I'd have a different answer.
But, decimated by injuries...7 straight games, and 4 very emotional ones against #1.... the outcome makes sense. :thud:

The question is why have we had so many injuries? What's different about this year? New S&C coach and.....that's about it.

You are right it does make it very hard to evaluate this game. No one in their right mind would think that we would win this game, no doubt about that. However I do think it is reasonable to expect that we would play Bama at least as well as Western Kentucky did, but we did not. We played them roughly at the same level that Kent State did.

Our coaching strategy and player execution were subpar, but gotta think this game would be at least semi-competitive with a close-to-healthy team. Bet it won't be half this bad if we rematch in ATL.

We will find out a lot about this team over the last 5 weeks of the season. Can they rebound and win out from here?

That is the bigger question IMO.

Lol.. Bama could've beaten both of those teams by 100 if they wanted to

Injuries arent a new phenomenon, they were a problem last year too. We just happened to get injuries at our most vulnerable positions in terms of team depth (LB & OL). Bama had a solid game plan that worked from the start (shocking) and we were incredibly easy to scheme against, both offensively and defensively. They took away Dobbs ability to run, their defensive backs were playing great, and their D line won the line of scrimmage most plays causing Dobbs major problems. Then, when it came to their offensive game plan it was literally just running the ball to pick on the backup LBs. Some misdirections to throw our LBs off, etc. Our run support was absolutely atrocious in the 4-2-5 and Bama knew it from the start.

Most of the major injuries were on defense. I expected the defense to give up some big plays. I'm disappointed in the play calling and overall offensive schemes. If you'd have told me Hurd would have gotten the ball 20+ times while averaging 2 yards pr carry and that dobbs didn't have a single, meaningful designed qb keeper in the game until the forth quarter...I wouldn't have believed it. And most of y'all know I don't have high expectations of butchs and staff to begin with

Let's be honest, we weren't going to win with all of the injuries, we all recognize this. But we should never show that kind of fight, especially against Alabama. Dooley, who's should be consider the worse coach in our programs history, didn't even lose to Alabama by this much.
