1. Maybe after the new coach is fired in 3 years. Good coach, just not ready for the big stage yet.

2. Absolutely.

3. Could do better, could do worse. I'd put him above Brewster and Calhoun though.

I can jump on the Patterson bandwagon, but I can't say I know enough about the other 2 to make an accurate asessment.

you have got to be kidding me. does any of those guys strike you as a homerun? that's what I believe MH has to have. By the way, I like TG, but it's years down the road for him. Strong is good, but we cannot hire a guy with no HC experience.

I guess it is all a matter of how you view the Vols current situation. IMO the only real slam dunks (picks that would not have failure of any kind) would be Gruden or Davis. Kiffin is not quite in that category for me, though I am confident that he would be a good hire. After that it is safe to say (IMO again) that we could be looking at a transitional hire even though the BOT and Hamilton seem to be swinging for the fences.

Without a doubt, hiring Strong or Gill would result in some very positive PR for the University. In many ways it would be no less risk than hiring a guy like Muschamp.

wed cant afford to roll the dice in that manner. Muschamp is as big a risk imo as TG or CS

I thought Patterson was going to Kansas State.

Gill isn't ready.
I'd rather have Muschamp or Venables than Strong.

I'm not necessarily advocating it....and I don't think we will be in a transitional mindset with the hire.

This job is not suited to someone with no head coaching experience.

Strong has been growing on me lately, and I have actually somewhat soured on Muschamp and Venables. Oklahoma guys can't wait to get rid of Venables.

Well if MH is going to take a risk....TG or the guy at Ball St would put some stank on it!

I agree completely, this isnt some middling job to cut your teeth on. this is.....well, this used to be the big time.

I would take Strong long before Venables or Muschamp. I like Turner Gill, but I agree it may be a few years before he is ready for the big time.

I would love Gary Patterson, but he's going to K-State. And yes, I know it's not official.

I'd Strong and Patterson over Gill.

I've wanted Patterson to come to Tennessee for a long long time
